While visiting our daughter at UT, we stopped at this bookstore and wanted to grab coffee here. I ordered a large latte which was listed for $6 while my wifey ordered drip coffee which was listed for $2.75. The lady quickly entered the order and turned the payment machine towards me to swipe my card while she went ahead to make coffee. The payment terminal was asking me to pay $14.75 and I was confused how it went this expensive. Instead of quickly swiping my card, I asked her and then without any apology she told me she charged twice for Latte and she quickly corrected it as if it was "business as usual". It did not look like she felt sorry for the mistake and it looked like it was an intentional thing and done so often . In the days of swiping cards, we often tend to not see the amount we are paying and lately these point of sales machines do not print receipts and we are getting into a culture where you just swipe your card without seeing receipt or any breakup of the cost. Not a good state of affair. Drinks are already expensive and earning dollars has been getting more and more difficult so let us be very careful not to overcharge unsuspecting customers.
Internet here is so slow it’s effectively useless.
Great weekend spot to read, study, or just grab a coffee to go.
I was served the best coffee by the best barista, thank you Sarah!
Not exactly sure what her name was but she has glasses and purple hair, she was absolutely incredible with the joyful attitude and making you feel welcomed, also made really good drinks. They really fit with the BookPeople vibes. Love her.
