Best restaurant in San Diego, everything was absolutely delicious!
We have eaten at Callie several times now and have come to the conclusion that it is the best dining experience in San Diego. The food is incredible. Every single bite is an experience. So many flavors! Give me an order of uni toast and the Patatas Bravas and I'm a happy man. The Aleppo Chicken is mind-blowing. Have not had a bad bite of anything in all of our visits. Service is top notch! From Tim you walk in to the time you leave the service staff and management is on top of making sure you have a great experience. If you haven't been to Callie get yourself a reservation and treat yourself to a night out. They will take great care of you. Best of the best! Vegetarian options: There are so many vege options that are so good. The babaghanoush, hummus, broccolini, carrots and Patatas Bravas are just a few of the options we always find on our table when we visit. So good! Parking: Parking garage on opposite side of the block from street entrance. Hostess stand will validate 3 hours of parking.
Everything about this place was outstanding!!! It was the most flavorful dinner we have ever had for a long time! And I am so surprised how allergen friendly they were! Everything on the menu had vegan and gluten free options!! You don't get this in a lot of places so I was very surprised We had bourbon and mezcal cocktails which were phenomenal and started with hummus with pita bread and veggies on side for gluten free options. And then we shared aleppo chicken, black harissa lamb chops and mushroom. Everything was sooooo tender and amazing. Appetizer hummus came with fermented Serrano pepper in the middle, it was sooooo delicious. We just had an amazing night with service and ambiance and the food - we will definitely be back
Callie hosted a fundraising dinner for Feeding San Diego last night. Their team is absolutely phenomenal. They made the Feeding San Diego staff and our honored guests feel so incredibly welcomed and taken care of in support of a great cause. From Chef Travis, to his lovely wife Mia, to Anna, to James, to others I unfortunately wasn't able to get their names, thank you so much for a wonderful and impactful evening. Most of the staff shared that they've been with Callie since the beginning. You can tell they're amazing people, with great hearts, and so passionate about their craft. We are so grateful!!!
It's not a bad restaurant, but a little disappointing given the hype and the price point. Broccolini salad: five stars for outstanding flavor. Steak: four stars for a decent cut of meat cooked appropriately. Scarpinocc: three stars for unimpressive flavor. Drink (kook juice): three stars -- the flavor had potential but it tasted a little watered down. Service: mixed experience. Three stars for the waiter who was sometimes slow to come back to us and seemed a little impatient at times. Five stars for the guy who refilled our water and cleared our plates for his exceptional timelines and politeness.
Was looking forward to the experience but maybe got my hopes up too high. Service was not good. Our server was very impatient after I asked 3 questions. We had to wait a while before we got to order. Our server never came to check on us during the meal. Service was 2 stars because the restaurant automatically charges you 4% surcharge and 20% tip. The drink was decent, 4 stars. Salad was very delicious, 4 stars for the taste and 3 for the quantity Steak was good meat, but too rare for me and nobody asked me how it was so I couldn’t tell anyone that, 4 stars. Pasta didn’t taste good and was way too pricey for the quantity, 2 stars.
Great food, not enough time to try the different dishes. 5 of us were rushed through a $600 meal in an hour. They were late seating us at 5:30, obviously they wanted to flip the table at 7:15. Order two dishes, with one person and you’ll be fine.
