This experience was so great. The owner treated us like friends, she was very available. We were there with our niece for brunch and it was delicious.
Just had a delicious and delightful time for brunch - was totally full but still had to order the Tarte Tatin which should not be missed! But I’m not here writing about the wonderful food. I’m writing to share how impressed I was that the owner dared to (politely) approach tables that were sitting during prime-time for an additional twenty (and thirty!) minutes AFTER their table was cleared, no coffee or anything more, just to chat during midday service. It’s a risk to do approach them - people can be oblivious and sometimes rude - but this restaurant took that risk and asked them if they’d mind finishing up! It was so cold out, waiting for a table to become available! Bravo to Cafe Paulette for this courageous and neighborly act! Thank you!
Food and drinks not worth the ridiculous pieces.
Food was great as was the service until the very end when I was scolded by the waitress for giving money to a homeless person who walked in. She told me all the reasons I shouldn’t be giving him money and how “these people” come in, act violent, and are a danger to everyone. When I challenged her and said this individual did not appear to be a threat and walked out as soon as I gave him the money she very condescendingly brought up her experience working at a psych hospital as evidence that she was better placed to assess a potential threat than I. Aside from the lack of respect/decency towards a restaurant patron (who can do what I please with my money) I was disappointed in her attitude and treatment towards the homeless, who she exhibited zero sympathy towards (not even offering food or a glass of water). I hope the restaurant can acknowledge and address this behavior among the service staff as it left a really bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise very good meal.
Loved the vibe. Loved the staff. Food was just okay: I had a burger (The Burger Paulette) which was fairly dry for “medium rare” and the fries were so overwhelming. Oversized and tasteless - not at all like a French fry you’d find in France.
We used to love coming here. The hostess had a hard time seating reservations allowing a spaced out couple to cut us. Food is losing its touch, made me sick all day. Not the restaurants fault but the crowd has become worse, almost feels like everyone around you is yelling with each other to compete with the other tables yelling. If you’re looking for a nice relaxing place for a meal, this ain’t it anymore.
Nice and cozy place, very comfy. Good service, interesting drinks and menu. We liked almost everything. The main dishes were great, the duck confit was awesome, the trout was really good, Paulette Burger was great and full of flavor, but some appetizers were not that good, our bone marrow was half cold and it was really hard to eat and the breakfast radishes was something strange to see on the menu, they were just cold cat in half radishes with cold unsalted butter? Not sure how this could possibly be a good addition to the menu?. Escargot was an amazing dish and everyone liked it. Will be back to try more. Thanks.
We were there for brunch. It is Sunday, we want to take it easy, enjoy our food and relax after a long week at work. There was that constant pressure of eat and get out because people are waiting. Literally the guy at the bar kept asking if we were done with our food etc. I had had only half of my omlette. Had to ask them to pack and ate the rest at home. Not going back.
