Update 2024: recently revisited and am still obsessed. Tried the mushroom tlayuda and it blew my mind. This place is so good. So far I’ve had a tlayuda and jamaica agua Fresca, both of which were delicious. The tlayuda was crispy and hearty without being greasy, and felt very flavorful and fresh. Excited to come back and try the tamales and hot beverages! Note - when I came, this place closed at 3pm and not 6pm as indicated on GMaps, may be worth checking before coming over. Not sure if that’s a temporary thing.
Lovely place! I recommend the cafe de olla, of course.
Love the hot chocolate so foamy & the spices are amazing. The owners are so friendly too!
When I’m nostalgic for Oaxacan goodness; this is my stop!! I come from San José (an hour away) to get my favorites: chocolate de olla, quesadilla de huitlacoche y flor de calabaza y tamales de huitlacoche. Few places have this delicacy or know how to do it right but Cafe de Olla is on point!! Their staff are so friendly and personable. They remember my name and it feels like being a part of a lil’ community when Im there. I recommend it highly Dietary restrictions: Veggie and vegan options
My wife and I were just in Oaxaca City a few weeks ago. My favorite thing to eat there was the tlayudas in El Marcado 20 Noviembre. The Tlayudas here are IDENTICAL. Perfect flavor. Knocked my socks off. 10/10
