My husband and I had a magical experience here tonight taking part in the waygu tasting menu. Our server was amazing and very attentive ! The appies, flight of steak tastings and desserts were out of this world! We have travelled the world to try many different culinary experiences and this was one of our top faves! The only thing we didnt like was the carrots as that dish was undercooked by about 5min it seems. Other than that it exceeded our expectations. I even added a lobster tail which had some kind of whimsical cream sauce that was delightful! Thank you to the staff and especially the chef
Have been here a few times before but was prompted to write a review because the service we received last night was pretty impeccable. Courtney was our server and she was super attentive to dietary restrictions, very cheerful, charming and funny. I love a server who shares stories and details about themselves and encourages conversation. It makes the dining experience feel less transactional and more relaxing and fun. The food was great. Tried the wagyu tasting menu. Highly recommend the carpaccio as your appy! Will definitely be back for a full size wagyu steak soon. Best steak I ever tried hands down. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free and dairy free options available
Food: We had a coupon for the Wagyu tasting menu. As a steakhouse, the quality of the beef was great. However, the Canadian wagyu was nothing out of the ordinary in comparison to a typical steak you would get from the grocery store. I was excited to try the Japanese wagyu but found it too fat and was disappointed with the piece I was given. I didn’t complain during the time of dining as I didn’t want to ruin my evening. In terms of sides, I loved the carrots - those were top notch. The fried rice and the beans on the other hand though, were too oily and salty respectively. It was an interesting combination of sides as it is different from other restaurants. We liked the Asian fusion aspect. Lastly, dessert was perfection! Service: We had Lawrence as our server. He was attentive and kind. He recommended us a great wine to go with the Wagyu! Atmosphere: Only a suggestion - please change the music! We know that music is subjective but pop and EDM covers just don’t go with a restaurant like Black and Blue. We would much prefer some jazz or something much less distracting. Sadly, we weren’t offered their signature birthday cake even though our reservation was under a birthday celebration.
Great food, great service. Lloyd was our server and was so knowledgeable about the menu items. 5 star service for sure! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly
@DARIO : If you haven't already done so, you ought to come up with a name for your St. Paddy's take on the French 75. Thank you for showcasing your unique mixology skills and for treating me to a cocktail that is most certainly, one of a kind! -- @HARRISON : I wish you all the best during your studies at UBC and wherever your next adventure takes you. Whether it's on-stage or on a blueprint, I have no doubt you will find that artistic outlet you've been seeking. Keep up the great work! -- @DEEPAK : Congrats on your accomplishments. From the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai (+10 years) to Glowbal Group, your hard work over the years has paid off and I'm glad you decided to make Vancouver home. The patrons and staff of Black + Blue are lucky to have you.
We went here for dinner and the food and service was excellent. Our waitress was attentive without over attentive. The management team came by few times to our table to ask if everything was to our liking and if we enjoying the food. Definitely a great restaurants
Zoran our server was an absolute delight! We had an incredible time and everything he and the staff did for us made my birthday celebration one for the books. Indulging in cowboy ribeye with foie and truffles, oysters, table side ceasar and bananas foster was truly special. Thank you again for an exceptional evening!
