Simply amazing pastries. I got a mango cardamom bun and I’m still thinking about it days later. I also love the sesame snickerdoodle. Disregard the bite taken out of the pastry picture… I couldn’t wait!
Some of the better laminated pastries I’ve had in the east bay, and creative to boot.
Overall rating 2.5 What a lucky day to find parking in front of Bake Sum on a Sunday afternoon. I've been seeing the line for a few weeks and hadn't been able to visit yet. Today I stopped in around 1 and they were out of most things so I ordered three things so I could at least get a taste. LocoMoco Danish - Pastry was on point. Light and flaky with a crunch. Paul Hollywood would be proud. There was a soft boiled egg - actually a bit looser than a soft boiled egg. The egg was cold and plain not really adding anything to the pastry except a source of protein. Almond Cake - Very dense and moist, not overly sweet (yay) but not particularly flavorful. Chocolate Cookie - Large, flat, crispy again not sweet (yay). I took a couple of crisp bites waiting for the flavor of chocolate or anything but coming up short. I arrived at 1 and they close at 2 so maybe I just got the leftovers, when you only have a few choices left they are probably not the most popular. I will go back and perhaps order one of their boxes Asian pastry and all pastry are wonderful and I hope in the future these are too.
Amazing bakery specializing in Asian influenced items. Menu changes monthly but count on delicious and creative items like Thai tea and mango croissant, almond cake, and my personal favorite, the hybrid crosubi (spam musubi in the flakiest croissant). Mochi bites and cookies are also in a variety of flavors, and don't forget the drinks! You'll want to try them all, and I wouldn't blame ya.
Very unique selection of baked good. Limited hours, but worth the wait.
Yummy pastries! Just wish they were open longer hours
