It's good, believe me, I'm mexican.
Management changed a few months back and there were some major changes in menu items and salsa quality. It's a real bummer because this used to be my go-to spot for over a decade.
I ordered 4 rolled beef tacos with everything, and it was pretty dry, and the flavor just really wasn't very good. The service wasn't anything great, and it was freezing inside this Mexican restaurant.
The best hole in the wall Mexican restaurant... It is a powerhouse of good quality food. Everything on the menu is prepared with love and care.. we got the carne asada nachos, 3 rolled taquito plate, street tacos for taco Tuesday, and shrimp tostadas. Everything was really well made and delicious! Ate as much as I wanted to pig out without any tummy troubles (which is common after aot of Mexican) next day. Not with Bahia... There food quality is supreme!!
I found bahia restaurant a few years ago doing a construction project in the neighborhood. I've lived in San diego all of my 47 years and have never had a carne asada burrito like this, other than South of the border. Order it with guacamole only and add some of their homemade Chipotle salsa and a little lime juice. The asada is so tender and usually cooked perfectly. The people working there are really nice. Prices are great. I picked up my usual order tonight and I'm subtracting a star because disappointingly, it missed the mark. The pieces of asada were really small and it was super salty and overcooked. I do like a little sear and carmelization on asada, but this was beyond that to the point the meat was actually crunchy, which was not enjoyable to try and get through. I'd ask that they watch how much the asada is being cooked on the flat top and maybe pull it off sooner. Bigger pieces of asada would hold a sear and also be tender in the past. Small seared pieces just turn crunchy. Definitely worth a try though. Might have just been an off night.
I got some street tacos ✊ . I ordered one shrimp and two carne asada .
