AO Organic Japanese - Kosher / Gluten Free

One of it's kind in NYC. Designed for people who want to eat organic, clean and healthy and quality food. You just go to the counter, tell them what you want and they will pack the food for you in a paper bowl with a plastic lid. There are disposable chopsticks and plastic forks but no complementary water or tea for takeout. The portions were very generous, almost double of poke bowls you normally get at other places, the yuzu crusted salmon and miso glazed broccoli were insanely good. Cauliflower hit the spot too. I think the reason why they can afford to do this is because they save on real estate by sharing floor space with a sushi bar, which is a different restaurant, and the place has limited seating. The sushi bar is somewhat chic but the counter area where you order organic modern Japanese food and the seating area are not fancy by any stretch of imagination. For people who only care about practicality and convenience, and just want to touch and go, as long as it's clean, uncluttered and the vibes are OK, all that doesn't matter because we aren't paying for nice decorations, paintings on the wall, etc. If you bring 20 friends, the chances are, they will not have enough chairs and tables. It is more for solo diners or a party of two. Vegetarian options: Rice (mixture of red rice and brown rice), yakisoba noodles, mixed salad greens as a base; miso glazed eggplant, miso glazed broccoli and red cabbage, curries cauliflower, kelp noodles with thin slices of cucumbers, green beans, microgreens for two veggie options; tempeh for protein

I expected more than a service bar to get a bowl of food in disposable dishes. The food was good, though at around 6pm (closing time several hours later) they were out of the salmon and had only one portion of flounder left. There also should be glasses and a water dispenser available. When one of the staff asked if everything was OK, I told him there ought to be a water dispenser. He brought me a disposable cup with water. I’d rather fewer disposables, even the recyclable types, which the bowl and cup were. I would also think there should be a hot drink like tea on the menu, but there was none.

Wow really great food dope place

I totally recommend going. This place had some of the tastiest food with great portions for a great price. I'm glad I stopped by and when I'm in the city again I'll definitely stop by. The owner was a pleasure to talk to. If you're going to get a bowl walk into the store and to the back. There is restaurant in the front. I unfortunately don't have a picture because I at to fast . This place in a hidden JEM in NYC if you are near broadway it’s a mush try. The food was incredible the survive was spectacular. Dietary restrictions: They are kosher(under the ok), gluten free and they also have some vegan options.
