Alberto's on Fifth - Fine Italian Restaurant

Our server Fernando was excellent, informative and attentive. Food was very good and the Tiramisu was the best we ever had.

Food was pretty good. The rest of the experience was troubling. We had Victor as our server. Victor should by no means be anywhere within the vicinity of any hospitality business. He is unwelcoming, acts annoyed by the simplest of requests, stand-off ish, argumentative and incompetent as a server. We were obviously displeased and asked to speak with the manager, low and behold we get Victor the manager, as poor as he was a a server he was worse as a manager. In essence his way of expediting and and potentially appeasing us, was to explain, in broken English that if we were unhappy we should “just pay and get out” How any establishment could possibly have someone with very little command of the English language, no apparent type of education or people skill’s representing their business is baffling to me and our entire party of four! We were suppose to be enjoying a nice evening on Fifth Avenue and instead we were all aggravated by Victor the server/manager. If you decide to take a chance at Alberto’s make sure you stay far away from Victor, personally any establishment that is foolish enough to have him represent them is not a place for me!!

Our party of four dined at this establishment this evening. My first intuition about the waiter, Victor, was negative. We should have left at that point. It would have saved us from our horrific experience with the waiter/manager, Victor. It appeared that asking for water, heat outside and table service, cheese, flatware, bread, was too much for this dismissive, confrontational and abusive server. Victor did nothing to tend to our table, he grunted rather than spoke, and had a puss on his face the entire time. Instead of waiting in a fine dining establishment, he should find a job more befitting of his abhorrent personality and service. Our food was served incorrectly to the wrong parties at the table. One party was served 15 minutes after the others ate. His explanation was that the workers do not understand English. In fact, we asked to speak with the owner several times, who was of course unavailable We plead with other waiters to serve our table. At the conclusion of our horrific experience, we were told by Victor to pay the bill and leave. My first inclination was to educate him on proper etiquette. After consideration, I realized that he was indifferent and ignorant, and does not worry about consequences of jeopardizing his job. There are none. Regrettably, he ruined our dining experience, but this is a trend for Victor’s behavior. Just read the negative reviews. I would not give this establishment your time and money. Provide business to establishments that are worthy and do not have a hostile server and designated manager to negotiate.

Wonderful restaurant.

Probably one of my favorite restaurants along 5th Avenue. The service is always consistent and what I love most is you never need a reservation. They don’t act annoyed when you walk up without a reservation and they get you right in on most nights. I’ve been coming for probably 15 years and I’ve never had a bad meal. I Highly recommend it and will definitely continue to patronize Alberto’s. Great job to the owners, chef and staff.

Great service. Outstanding food. Authentic Italian food- Not Olive Garden.
