ZUBU Ramen - Kerrisdale

My parents and I ordered 5 items but I have picture of only the first dish. That’s because they all looked so good so we dove right it and ate and forgot to take any picture. It was Easter Sunday. I took my parents around town to look at cherry blossoms. It was around lunch time when we drove through Kerrisdale on the way to UBC so we decided to stop and look for a restaurant. Zubu was the 3rd one we checked out. The menu looked good and we grabbed a bar height table by the window. We ordered: - chicken karaage (8-pc) - edamame - my parents each had a mini tonkotsu ramen - I had the poke bowl The chicken karaage pieces were generous in size. The coating was light and crispy and the meat was juicy and tender. My parents were glad that there were mini size offerings for ramen which were perfect for them. My dad had a regular and my mom had a medium-spicy (2 on their 4-pt scale). She said it wasn’t spicy at all although she could eat raw chili peppers like snacks. My poke bowl was tipped with all the expected fixants which were fresh and flavourful. Portion was generous as well. It was a perfect Easter lunch for us.

Just wanted to get it out of the way and say this… ALL the servers were beautiful women Anyway, I got the Brussels Sprouts Tempura, Spicy Chicken Ramen, and Tonkotsu Shiro. My friend said that it was good. Her noodles were different and thicker than mine. I didn’t really like the noodles that came with the Spicy Chicken Ramen. They were quite small and like vermicelli. However, it was still very good. The chicken was cooked perfectly. 10/10! The broth was flavorful and comforting. Even though I didn’t like the noodles, overall it was quite good. Next time I want to try the Brussels Sprouts Ramen. The Brussels Sprouts Tempura was really good. I would have preferred them to cook it a bit longer. But they were still good nonetheless. I would like to check out the other items. I highly recommend this place.

Came here for lunch after a couple of months. Very disappointed with the food. They’ve increased prices, and reduced quality. The spicy chicken ramen no longer comes with kikurage and instead was served with kale (?!) and red onions. Fries came out cold. Broth still tasted good but overall this felt like a big step backwards in quality. I would no longer recommend this place

Kid-friendliness: Kid meals colouring sheets

Had a pretty disappointing time at this spot. The way they treated delivery folks was just not cool. They were straight-up rude, making them wait outside in the freezing cold. Not the vibe I was hoping for.

The food was great, but the service was poor. They had a new person being trained I guess. We ordered their special set menu that includes desserts but looking at my bill the next day I noticed that they charge me an extra $11 dollar for them. When I called I was told that there was no manager in the store and they couldn't refund me and also that I would have to come in to the restaurant. I live 3 hours away so that's not happening. What terrible customer service.

Very overpriced, strange menu. Shocking mediocrity in every way. Ramen for those who don't believe in anything

We tried this place for the first time. We both had the chicken ramen, spicy. It came very quickly and was excellent. We will return to sample other offerings. Great beer on tap for happy hour. There are also cheaper food offerings.

My go to restaurant. This is the place I fell in love with ramen

Sad. You’ve just lost a customer. The female server refused to let me sit there even if there were seats already available and put me behind the line of other people even if I was the one who arrived first, because my other friend hasn’t arrived yet, but how come I don’t deserve a seat if I’m just by myself? And I came cuz it’s my birthday today. I probably wouldn’t come back again.
