January 2024: My husband and I had been yearning for good Ethiopian food for a while. It had been years, since our favorite restaurant in Washington, DC closed. So when we were in Cleveland and looking for a place to eat we found Zoma via a Google search. Ethiopian in Cleveland? Why not. And boy are we glad we visited Zoma! We shared a vegetarian pick 4 and the food was outstanding - fresh and perfectly spiced. We savored every bite. The service was lovely too. We had wine with dinner which increased our bill significantly. If you choose just the food, you can have a super-filling meal for 2 for under $20. If you're unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine, it is made up of small portions of your choosing (veg or meat or a combo) served atop a large pancake called injera which is made from fermented tef and barley flours. You eat with your hands by tearing pieces of injera to pick up the food. It is a romantic and communal experience that's a ton of fun. The food isn't spicy as in hot, but it is well-seasoned and so flavorful. And Zoma does this very well. The only thing I wish they did was offer bowls and towels to clean your hands before eating (as they did in our DC spot). Cleveleand, you have a treasure in Zoma. We hope you embrace this family run business and visit often. Yum!!! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options.
Glorious delicious food. Highly recommend!
We had the Zoma Special Combo and man was it great! The chickpea stew was my favorite! You can't go wrong with a side of ginger beer too! Was seated as soon as we arrived. This place gives you the feeling of a small, quaint nook while eating on a patio. We loved the aesthetics! Can't wait to come again!!
A lovely, friendly place with outstanding food! I really enjoy my combo platter and the injera was perfect! A wonderful satisfying Ethiopian dinner with a nice glass of cabernet!
Come here for ultimate deliciousness. 100% will return!
After a long day, I chose this place cause it was the best option out of all the places in the area. My only regret is that I didn't order more food. Great place to bring someone for a conversation or just to enjoy some food made with love. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be coming here first
Our first time getting Ethiopian food in Cleveland and it did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly and the food was so good! The tibs coming out on a sizzling skillet was a nice little flare. Really good portion sizes for a reasonable price and our leftovers warmed up great the next day!
Amazing food! We first came here about six years ago and for some reason hadn't been back until today. What a mistake! We’ve been missing out. Excellent vegetarian options, especially the tofu dish. The food is so flavorful and delicious. Highly recommend the honey wine if that’s your thing. We’ll make to sure to be back more than once every six years!
