Most underrated shop in the neighborhood. Def order the 红烧牛肉面and the 豌豆杂酱面,and just as is. You'll save yourself an international flight ticket.
This family ran joint serves the best beef noodle soup and homemade soup dumplings! It’s the perfect spot for a cozy meal, especially during the winter or rain. The noodle soup had a rich, clean broth & the meat was super tender. Some other standout dishes included the shanghai shumai and spicy wontons in chili oil, which I could easily eat multiple portions of. I’ll definitely be back!
Great food, super fresh, super flavorful. A new neighborhood favorite!
Food is great, but there's not a large menu. One "warning": The fried chicken in some of the dishes is fully cooked, but still looks pinkish inside. It's marinated in such a way that the interior is somewhat pink, even after cooking, similar to ham. The fried chicken is tasty but salty by design, so great with rice. Parking: You could probably double park and watch your car from the restaurant - it's not a busy street Kid-friendliness: It's no frills and there's a couple outdoor tables, plus a planter on the sidewalk kids can sit on. Wheelchair accessibility: Can roll in, there's no stairs
Overall rating: 4.5 I didn’t realize this was a chain when I visited. Clean area and nice service. Not a place to sit down, but rather to go. I had the Szechuan braised beef and it is SPICY. I wasn’t prepared how spicy. On the first day, the broth just tasted like hot water. It was missing the flavor or fullness of broth. But on the second day, I added some soy and a few other Asian spices & it got so much better. Surprisingly day 2 was better than day 1. I could come back to try another, less spicy dish, if I’m in the area. Definitely more a lunch to-go spot, than anything else. Recommend giving it a try.
