If you're looking for food involving truffle oil , towers of weird stuff or other chef-y nonsense you're probably best going up the road to another place . On the other hand , if you're looking for the best Sunday roast dinner you can get , at a hard - to - believe price , with hot fresh vegetables cooked properly by people who know what they're doing , served by friendly staff ( no indifferent teenagers here ) and a great pint , then it's the Crown every time . As we say every time we go to this gem of a pub .

Waited 1.5 hours for food that was average at best. No apology, terrible attitude from staff. Will not be returning.

Impromptu stop here for lunch today. Lovely pub, welcoming staff and cracking food. Steak baguette was AWESOME !
