This place is small, tiny, grimy, loud, and kind of dirty. I LOVE IT. You have to be in the right frame of mind to come here. The seating is tight with small stools. It’s in the basement level so it feels dark with no windows. But man is it fun to be in this energy where everyone feels like they’re there having a good time. Whether you’re alone having skewers with a beer or with a large group of friends after the bar for late night snacks. This place hits with the skewers. This place is very old NYC east village grime vibes so prepare yourself when you use the tiny restroom with graffiti. NYC needs this place. As it still feels raw unlike the polished, gentrified restaurants that have popped up on St Marks. Support this business. Support the skewers.
I'm a huge fan of coming here, but this is not the place for everyone. If you are claustrophobic, maybe try somewhere else. However! Their food is absolutely amazing. I'm a huge fan of their agedashi tofu, charshu avocado, takoyaki, and tatsuta age. If you are craving greasy, savory, delicious food, this is your spot. Go. Enjoy. Get a beer. It makes the food even better, but it's awesome even without it. Anyways, this place is a gem and say thank you to the staff. They're amazing.
Not really a nice place for party, or snacks. Had order set A and Set C, and a few extra sticks of meat balls, and some apps Our yakitori came out 70% cold ... tsukuni was cold on the inside, even tho it was cut in half of a ball, and that was the first one I bit into. If you order one at a time tho. It was super warm and yummy. Drinks you gotta go big or go home. Not a choice, it's a must. Ps. Okonomiyaki was not good. Recommend ordering form other places. This place probably made the worst one, I have ever tasted. Better yet just make it yourself. It was a sad pile of mush.
Most of the items we ordered were tasteless. We re-ordered one item a second and it came out totally different, plus undercooked! (Chicken yakitori).
If you’re into katsu curry don’t think about coming here. Their beef curry is pretty much chili
This has to be one of the best hidden gems in NYC, tasty, adorable, friendly, happy atmosphere. Just the wooden stools were super uncomfortable, by design… you eat fast and move on. Truly a culinary experience. I shall return…
terrible service from one waiter. we asked for the check and he came to clear the table. i was talking with a friend and checking something on my phone so i never heard him asking whether i was done with my food. i only heard him ask my friend and my friend said yes for her food but he came to take away my food as well. but i wasn’t done! so i said wait wait wait and the waiter got super offensive like i just disrespected him and got mad. and he started yelling at me like excuse me what is wrong with you for assuming everyone has mean intentions towards you? i felt super disrespected and told him that but he started yelling back and blaming me. will never return
