Adorable atmosphere, great mead, cool shop. 10/10
Truly the best mead and ambiance ever! While we tried a few different meads from various crafters, Wyrd’s mead stood out as our favorite by far. And the atmosphere was a fantasy-lover’s dream come true. Plus, the leatherworks and other crafted items were absolutely gorgeous, and it made for the perfect momento to commemorate such a magical experience. My only regret is that we didn’t find this place sooner and weren’t able to stay longer! But that only means that we’ll plan accordingly the next we visit! Parking: While we couldn’t find parking in their lot (it’s a pretty small lot), there was ample street parking nearby. We were easily able to find parking less than a block’s walk away.
This past weekend my band was lucky enough to get to shoot part of our music video at Wyrd. The folks who run the place were kind enough to not only participate in the video but also loan us armor, clothing and props that made the video that much cooler looking. This is a level of generosity you don’t see often. After the shoot we all came back to Wyrd and sat down with some glasses of mead and I am not blowing smoke here when I say this is some of the best mead I have ever tasted. The semi sweet traditional was so smooth, balanced and crushable. Not to mention the surreal ambiance of the hall, you feel like you have transported to another realm! We would have stayed all night if we didn’t have to come back to seattle. These folks at Wyrd are caring, compassionate, Fun people who care deeply about community, and not only that they deliver a great product in an outstanding setting. If I lived in Portland I would spend too much time there. This is a business not only worthy of your support, it’s just an awesome place to go. I 100% endorse it. If you’re in PDX or are travelling there make it a point to go. You will thank me later!
Let me start this review off with the fact that I have been rooting for these guys. I love everything Norse, fantasy, LOTR, mead, etc… the atmosphere is cool, and has a lot of potential! The mead is pretty good, and the food is good for not really being the priority of this tasting hall. However, I’ve been in several times, and have usually received cold, cagey, and poor attitudes from the staff, which sucks. Each time I’ve tried again, I’ve reasoned (as per their replies on social media and negative reviews) that it was just a busy, stressful night. But I feel after 5 times visiting that it’s not a rare fluke, but more of a pattern. The owner has always been pleasant on social media and ren faires, and as a small business owner I get that it can be a struggle at times to please everyone. I hope Wyrd grows, and improves on all fronts, but none more than their hospitality and customer service.
Great atmosphere, music, service, and amazing Mead.
Great atmosphere. Wish it had food. There's a taco truck outside though.
One of the best fatasy venues in the area. The focus on mead verity is amazing.
What a fantastic place! The mead is delicious and they are always creating something new. The atmosphere and ambiance really feels like your are in an old fantasy style tavern. You will keep expecting to see a band of adventurers walk in the door or an elf to sit at the bar next to you. Highly recommend checking this place out.
