As a local in the Mission, this is my favorite brunch spot (sans Plow, which is always packed with tourists and ridiculous wait times). I think the atmosphere here is way better than Plow. Also, Plow potatoes might be a 10/10 but the potatoes here are like a 9/10... which I feel like already makes this place more than worth it, if you factor in the wait. Wooden Spoon serves brunch everyday, so sometimes I come for brunch on a weekday if I'm craving breakfast. They really curated their menu and you can't go wrong with anything: my personal favorites are the avocado toast, breakfast panini, the big spoon, and soft scrambled eggs (with smoked salmon!). My vegan partner joins me often because they make an entirely vegan huevos divorciados with "the best eggs"--he was actually hesitant to eat them at first because they looked so much like real eggs! Shout out to Luke, the best bartender! He is such a kind human. Get the Luke's Espresso-tini--it's his signature and AMAZING. The wait can be long on the weekends if you don't come early, but bar seats move fast.
Morning bowl is a perfect dish. Charging $9 to top it with two eggs is very San Francisco in late-stage capitalism but I would do it all again anyway.
Came here with a friend on a Monday afternoon with no wait! There was a wait and you had to physically write your name on a clipboard outside the restaurant, but we only needed to wait about 10 minutes to get seated so it wasn't too bad. Good: - The food here was healthy and fresh! I got the grain bowl and found it to be more savory than I imagined - I liked the sweet potato and the grain - the mushroom was also really savory. - I liked the latte with oat milk here too. Bad: - Longer wait and time to get service, so we sat around for quite a while before we ended up getting served. Overall had a great time and the aesthetics here are really nice for a catchup!
Always a good experience here. The food and service is great!
Pro tip: go before 10am and sit at the bar for a more peaceful weekend brunch experience.
I can't imagine anyone rating this place less than 5 stars. We have been here so many times with the kids and everyone loves the food. Service is fast and portions are good. The inside is beautifully decorated and overall is a very cute place.
I have been here twice. Service was great the first time. Today was a bit chaotic. It took needing to call attention to ourselves to be able to order. Water was not refilled until we paid the check. But the food was good and I will chalk it up to an anomaly. Update: I have been here several more times. Generally still good service and food, friendly servers. If you sit at the bar, expect a little more wait and maybe needing to clarify a thing or two. Overall, I still enjoy going here and will continue to go back. I've gotten the acai bowl, very tasty. Had the little spoon today and was again very satisfied
