If you're in the area, I strongly recommend anywhere else!! Luke's local, flywheel, snowbird all make better espresso drinks just blocks away. The first time I visited Woodhouse and my cortado was watered down, I didn't say anything, everyone makes mistakes! I don't care about friendly service at all but the moody Bukowski attitude from these guys is only cool if you know what you're doing. All cafes serve drinks in either 4oz cups, 8oz cups, or 12oz cups and it's clear how 4oz fills each size. A cortado is equal parts espresso and milk so 2/2 for 4oz total or 4/4 for 8oz total for a quad. It's a tiny drink almost like a macchiato. When they presented an 8 oz cup filled 3/4 full, I said 'excuse me this looks like 6 oz and a cortado is 4'. They were defensive and said 'we eyeball it' and that the 8oz cup is deceiving me. I asked to pour the same drink in a 4 oz cup to see if it fits - they immediately say they'll remake it with 'less milk' and to ask for a 'short cortado' next time - which I've never heard of. I googled 'short cortado' and got no results! Saying it's a freestyled cortado and somehow my fault for not clarifying i want a normal one is wild to me. I said 'no problem' and waited as they made a cortado that tasted like a cortado, filled to the top of a 4 oz cup. They could have put the new 4 oz drink in an 8oz cup to prove their previous error but there was a lot of embarrassment and ego happening. You can see this is my first negative review but I was shocked at the ineptitude/attitude. It was the refusal to admit a mistake. Poorly eyeballed espresso/milk ratio on two occasions is concerning when your thing is coffee. I thought only fast food chains like Dunkin Donuts didn't know how to do cortados. I would have ordered a black drip coffee if I knew this place was more like Starbucks.
