As business neighbors for many years around the corner from William Poll, our veterinary hospital team and many of our mutual clients loved deliciously prepared classic gourmet food that was served and delivered with a friendly smile to our Upper East Side community. Always, a personal touch and a warm neighborhood welcome awaited you when you walked into their bustling and cheerful shop of delicacy creation. From brownies for our staff, hot meals, sandwiches, potato crisps with delicious dips, and unique specialty food baskets, we loved it all and still do! It is heartwarming to know that this family establishment of high-quality customer service and classic specialty food has stood the test of time in New York City since 1921! Although we have moved further downtown, we proudly call William Poll our neighbor.
William Poll, which has been around for over 100 years, makes the most fantastic gourmet sandwiches in New York City, in my opinion. They are great to take to parties, very tasty, and make quite an impression with everyone. William Poll is famous for its chips and baked goods, too. There is a reason why this business has been around so long. I highly recommend it here!
I was quite charmed when I walked in but it all dissipated when I saw and bit into the $13 Turkey and cheese sandwich I was given––perhaps the smallest and blandest I ever had. I went and had a real lunch elsewhere afterwards.
Me and my family just decided the chicken cutlet was a 10 out of 10 we are so ecstatic
Cute place that seems like quintessential old New York and would love to try again BUT - Turkey sandwich was $12 for a small slice of essentially wonder bread, two slices of Turkey and one slice of cheese. Public school cafeterias have better sandwiches. Also a tiny single serving tin of Mac & Cheese was $15.
My mom has been shopping at William Poll since I was a kid. My best memory was always of the Watercress dip she would bring home. I loved it, and still do. I was blown away when I went in and saw all the other insanely good options. I also recommend the Bacon Horseradish. It was amazing on my baked potato.
You can find things here, that you can find no place else. i.e. great wild mushroom soup, and Pierre Font fruit purée
Good stock, kind staff, but hilariously overpriced. I bought a $13 sandwich that was disrespectfully small. Normal adults should order at least three sandwiches per person.
