I placed an online order and waited for my food at the estimated time. Only to find out my food wasn’t ready which was okay I didn’t mind waiting. However Gustavo was really rude. He told me his card machine was down and it is only cash. I attempted to explain I placed an online order and it should be ready. He cut me off and said no. I was shocked and check my email found my receipt. At this moment I noticed i did place it to the wrong location. I apologize and asked if there is any way he can make it since they are apart of the same company. He said no. I asked how can I start the refund or and he said he wouldn’t help. I need to call a number, I asked the number for who and what is the number. He grow short and said call your bank. He was really unhelpful and short. Overall a poor customer service experience. I was able to find the number for the Alameda location and had someone hang up on as soon as they picked up. I called again I spoke to Ruby who told me she could help with a refund but her tone was very short and disrespectful. I end up calling my bank and in the process of disputing this charge. I understand my fault in placing the wrong location but that shouldnt warrant rude customer service.
The male owner gives the most dry attitude to you unless you are someone who comes daily and have no problem overpaying for food. I should not have to spend a load of money to be treated with respect. Even one of his own employees noticed how dry he spoke to me but the person he greeted so warmly, his tone was excited where as he made me feel like an inconvenience. Then I requested an item to be made a certain way and it was not. I have been to this establishment 5 times, I will never go there again, the ladies are nice, the gentleman is not. He made my order so incorrect this morning I didn't even bother going back down to have it made properly. I used to tell my colleagues and others to check it out. Now I suggest leaving the building to get food. It's sad that you can get better customer service from an establishment such as McDonalds.
The food us well worth the money that you spend in there. Sandwiches are delicious, burgers are great and they have delicious variety of salads. I believe they have something for everyone on the menu. I go to the one in Emeryville on Powell Street in the building 2000.
Catered an event from Why Cook Cafe on 9/12. The staff was very accommodating to our needs. All our guests agreed the food was wonderful!
WHY COOK is a great work Cafe. I have eaten here a couple of dozen times. It is amazing the diversity of food. I have had their burgers, burritos, salads and sandwiches. The staff is friendly and the owner runs a tight ship.
