Doorman assured us there would be live bands “by 8:30,” when I said we were seeking live music. We stayed til 9:30, and finally asked a bartender when the music would start, and told “no live music”. We were upcharged $10 for the only 2 drinks we ordered, without the bartender disclosing there’d be upcharges. She explained, when we asked about the high bill, that I had asked for bourbon in my (not good and no proper cube) old-fashioned (and it was a well bourbon), and when I asked why an upcharge for my friend’s basic margarita (my friend didn’t ask for anything different about her marg), the bartender just said well, there was an upcharge. We loved the other 6th Street bars we visited, and unfortunately not this one.
If you enjoy 'West 6th' area in Austin, this one is one of the least pretentious in the area, often with a good live band!
