Wasabi Japanese Restaurant(Spartanburg)

Me and my husband has been coming here for years! The food is excellent! my favorite rolls are the spider roll and the longhorn roll!

This is hands down the worst sushi I have ever had in my life. I had a friend who recommended it to me, but when we pulled into the parking lot we should have known to leave. It is extremely unkept. Then when we walked inside I told my wife we should probably turn around and go somewhere else because the smell was so foul. We decided to stick around bc of the recommendation and the Google reviews. We ordered 4 rolls in total. They brought out 2 rolls, one of which was a basic spicy tuna roll. No spice at all. The rice was dry and the roll didnt hold together. It just fell apart when I tried to pick them up. Even the ”crunchies” that they used on my wife’s first roll were stale. They brought out our other two rolls and they didn’t look at all like the description. I tried a bite or two and it was a soggy mess on the inside and the rice was also dried out. It was very bizarre. My wife sent hers back bc it was made incorrectly. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of the sushi being bad so we just asked for the check and left after eating a few bites. Never in my life will I come back to this place. I contacted my buddy and he said he has never had that experience. Maybe it was an off day or maybe we ordered the wrong rolls, but the 4 we ordered were not only bad, they were outright disgusting. Oh, and on the way out they have bug traps right by the front door. Had I noticed that when I walked in, I would have immediately left. That’s never a good sign. At least try to hide your bug problem. Service was ok.

It was great to see Katsu and Jing! Awesome Sushi!

You can tell the chef hand selects his fish and has an excellent eye. This is one of the few places that genuinely captures the ethereal nature of Japanese sushi.

This place has went down hill since I last remembered , my spider roll (soft shell blue crab) tasted like mush for lack of better words , I ordered two appetizers both were mediocre my kids did order their new hibachi option and ate it all so at least they were satisfied but I won’t be back. Service also didn’t help

Great service and food. Waitress was super helpful and even talked sumo with me.
