We have been loyal customers for many years. That ended yesterday sadly. We arrived at 10:20am . There was no wait. We had 4 people. There 4 top was still dirty so we sat at the clean 6 top. Our waitress explained that the kitchen had already finished last call for breakfast so we had to order lunch. No problem. Our fault for sleeping in. We ordered our drinks and our tuna sandwiches. Then 3 folks came in and sat at the 3 top that had been cleaned off. They flagged down a waitress and said that they were there before 1030 and demanded breakfast. We listened as the lady apologized and took their breakfast order. Then we witnessed another person come and apologize to them. Then after we had been there long before they came we watched them get served their breakfast. Meanwhile we had been refused breakfast and after 52 minutes of us sitting there watched them arrive, order and get served.. We were enraged by the patrons sense of entitlement but more upset at the way we were treated while we observed the rules without protest. We ended up leaving without eating and the way the staff acted that day ensured we will never return.
Great burger and fries. Service a wee bit slow but plenty of cool photos on the wall to look at.
Wheelchair accessibility: So nice I can ride a wheele up down it! I'm like lil john but In a wheelchair yelling look out Dog get out my food YEEEEAH HUH WHAT OKAY! Get that food ready babe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me start off by saying I had no idea about the location of this place or its history before I came. I was simply in the area for work and Googled breakfast places and saw it had a high rating so I went. This wonderful little diner is right across from Churchill Downs where the Derby is ran, and has a history of the event throughout the restaurant and a gift shop. But the real winner here was the service and food. The food is typical southern fare done very well, I had chicken fried steak and eggs, and a pancake. It was all very very delicious. But I interacted with every member of the staff during my short breakfast. Every waitress constantly made sure I had drink and the food was up to expectation, and the kitchen staff even came out and made sure it was up to my expectations. None of that impacted the speed at which they served it either. I had a wonderful experience here and would highly recommend it.
What can you say? Best kept secret in the Southend. Wagners and the track a must
About a disappointing of a breakfast that you can find in town. Food does not live up to the hype.
Delicious Derby Sandwich!! A must stop on every trip to Louisville!
