During our recent stay at Village Hotel Edinburgh, we encountered several issues that detracted from our overall experience. Initially, we booked a standard double room for two nights. However, we decided to extend our stay, booking an additional night in a "club room with spa and parking included." We were under the impression that all guests would have access to the spa and parking as standard amenities, given the hotel's advertisement and its 4-star rating. Despite multiple attempts to clarify this before our trip, we received no response from the hotel staff. Upon check-in, we were informed that we had a club room booking, and we were assigned room 403. However, upon entering our room, we discovered a lack of basic amenities such as drinking water, hair conditioner, iron, and dental kits—items expected in a 4-star hotel. Despite bringing these concerns to the reception, the response was limited to a mere apology. The next morning, my wife was rudely denied entry to the spa by the reception staff, citing our supposed lack of eligibility due to our room type. This incident marred our anniversary celebration and left a negative impact on our overall experience. Additionally, there was a lack of communication regarding the closure of the lift for maintenance, which inconvenienced guests, especially those with mobility issues. The patronising remarks from certain staff members further exacerbated the situation. After my wife notified the reception staf that she had been waiting at the lift on the 4th floor as she suffered from sciatica pain she was scarstically responded to by Keny the reception staff that "did you not thing to use the stairs" We voiced these concerns to the reception staff and discussed the issues with Jamie Cook, the stand-in manager, who was sympathetic but unable to fully rectify the situation. We also provided detailed feedback on various aspects of our stay, including the lack of communication, poor customer service, and inconsistencies in amenities. As a result of this disappointing experience, we have decided to hold back from registering for our annual health memberships with Dudley Village Hotel. Overall, our stay at Village Hotel Edinburgh fell short of our expectations, and we hope that our feedback will be taken seriously to improve the guest experience in the future. Rooms: rooms are very basic and miss the bar essentials a 3 star hotel should have like a phone, water and conditioner let alone a 4 star hotel. Rooms need basic essentials added. Food & drinks: the restaurant has a 2.8 star rating so chose against even trying it. This needs to be looked at as why does the restaurant have such a low average which is unseen anywhere else.
