I've known of Verse for a couple years and finally got to go last night and man I wish I would have checked it out sooner. I'll start with the space, it's an audiophiles dream. The whole restaurant is built like a recording studio, although it doesn't look like it at first glance, but closer inspection reveals very intricate sound absorbing treatments on all the walls and ceiling, as well as an impressive array of microphones dangling from above for their "Constellation sound system" where every seat in the house has perfect sound from the live music they have EVERY night! In the brief moments without music the restaurant is one of the most satisfying acoustic rooms I've been in outside of an actual recording studio. Onto the drinks, I love an old fashioned and this one was way up there on my all time favorites. Our waiter took a torch to an interesting device to add some real smoke to the drink which sat in the glass while I sipped. The food was incredible, I had the hokkaido milk bread and the crab pasta with the seared uni. Both perfect! My girlfriend had the Lamb pasta, also superb. The staff was also very pleasant and welcoming, I can't recommend this place enough and cant wait to come back for dinner or just a cocktail at the bar.

Enjoyed the Valentine's pri fixe menu. It is on the pricy side but the food and service were exceptional. What stands out though is the acoustics and the atmosphere especially when it is a little less crowded. Soft guitar & perfect sound better than most concert venues or clubs.

Ummm can we add the option for a higher rating than 5 stars?!? Verse deserves a 5 star PLUS PLUS. The decor of restaurant exudes elegance and contemporary chic vibes. Similar to a speakeasy, the space is dimly lit with intimate individual lighting on each table. Perfect for date night, a special occasion, a well deserved great meal or stylish cocktails!! I went with a somewhat big group of friends (there were 7 of us) on a busy Friday night… And at no point was there an issue with the service or the timing of our drinks & food orders! The Oysters & Sashimi were excellent, and came served along with a suggestion on how the chef recommends eating it. The Hokkaido Milk Buns should come with a warning ⚠️ label they’re literally that good - dare I say perfect !!! My friends were all ummming and ahhhing while eating. So, really it’s safe to say that everything ordered was a hit!! The live music portion was yet another highlight of my visit at Verse!! Truly exceptional talents grace the space… So, if you are a fan of jazz; look no further and make a reservation ASAP so you can explore and experience the lively and sophisticated vibes here.

Interior-Cool Luxury Speakeasy; Excellent mock-tail, Yummy Iberico Pluma; Crudo Appetizer-not balanced, too acidic, not a special experience as stated by the waiter. The milk buns are overrated. Tasty buns but not worth it. The waiter asked about allergies (Thank you!). Unfortunately, Verse’s restaurant system is inadequate for persons with dietary restrictions. There are no menu notations for dairy and gluten-free items, and very few gluten-free options. The waitress consulted the kitchen at least four times and brought out a color-coded chart that outlined which dishes had allergens to our table. The waiter said the dry-aged branzino, a signature dish, was served with a “delicious” mole and sweet potatoes. She stated that it was gluten-free and that no changes would be needed in this dish. I said, “Great!” and mentioned that sometimes mole IS gluten-free, but frequently it is NOT. I asked her to double-check. When served, my table mate received a nicely plated Iberico Pluma. Shockingly, a barren sauce-less unseasoned fish fillet with no sides or garnish was placed in front of me. It looked grim. Two minutes later, the waitress came to our table to explain that the dry-aged branzino dish was not gluten-free and they had to remove the sauce and the sides. She offered broccoli and carrots to go with the tasteless fish. I could not see the vegetables saving what was supposed to be a delicious saucy $42 dish and I did not trust they knew what they were doing. The manager came to our table with a menu and offered to order a different dish (Thank you!). I asked him which dishes were gluten-free. He then stood there by my side flummoxed for at least 2 minutes, looking at the menu and turning the pages of the menu …. he then said, “Oh, I am going to confirm with the kitchen,” and left. He came back 3 minutes later and offered the braised beef entree, a menu item that was never suggested to us. The waitress was not appropriately trained, the kitchen staff should have noticed that this dish would not work before preparing it, and the head chief (quality control) should have seen that my dish looked shockingly pathetic before it was released from the kitchen. Consider following what cutting edge LA restaurants do, either have the waiter pencils a star besides the menu items that the patron can eat or have a GF, DF or V noted besides each menu item. It would really help! Dietary restrictions: See review.

This place always exceeds my expectations with every aspect. The food, service and music makes every time I come here so special and worth every single penny. Huge thank you to Chef Oscar for being such a sweet and understanding staple to this amazing restaurant. Wish I could give more stars!

Let me start out by saying phenomenal!!!! Verse is an absolute must when in LA. From the low key entrance outside to the dimly lit, sexy and sophisticated inside you're bound to appreciate the vibes of this place. There were a few sets of a live jazz band that set the tone. When the band wasn't playing, Verse also had a playlist going which included some of my favorite R&B songs from the 90s and 2000s which totally made the setting even more enjoyable. You absolutely have to start off with the Hokkaido Milk Buns. This is a must-try item on the menu. They were served warm and the accompanying butter was amazing. To drink, I had the Espresso Martini made to order. Perfection! I initially had wanted to order the dry-aged branzino for my main, but they were out of this. I was slightly disappointed but ended up ordering the pork belly risotto and I forgot about my disappointment. It was delicious! The pork belly was super flavorful and supple. Cooked perfectly. The dish was a perfect combination of sweet and savory. It was slightly salty, but overall still delicious and I would still recommend it. My only complaint for Verse was that I was too full to enjoy dessert!! I highly recommend without hesitation. Lastly, I wanted to make sure I recognized our server, Dawson. He was truly great. From his professionalism and kindness to his attention and knowledge of the menu.
