After Watching Netflix show about Portland food cart we wanted to come to Portland to eat. In the Netflix show mama dut was featured as one of the food carts or restaurant. Mama dut served some vegan pork belly. After doing further research mama dut has closed her business due to pandemic. We were sad, but I did some more research and found this wonderful restaurant which serves some good vegan pork belly too. . We walked in and ordered the paid, and found a seat to enjoy. . Vegan Pork belly - consist of bread, taro, pepper, coconut and fried - it came tossed with some sauce and fried crispy. When I ordered I make sure I told them please make it crispy and add more sauce. The reason is I see mixed reviews about the vegan pork belly can be dry, and not crispy enough, or not enough sauce. The dish was crunchy and flavorful! We asked them to replace the rice and the noodles it come with, we wanted a salad instead. This dish was 14.99 . Fried spring rolls - comes with taro, vermecielli, cabbage. It was good and crispy. But the show of food was the vegan pork belly. . Overall we sat outside for the nice sunny weather. We had a wonderful experience too. The service was quick and casual. There is a nice parking lot, which was great for no searching around street parking. Hope this review helps. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day

If you come here, get the spicy noodle soup (which has a very mild spice) or the pho. Of a group of five of us, those were the only dishes I thought were good at all. I've eaten Vietnamese and Thai food in a bunch of different places, and of course it all depends on your perspective based on what you have had in the past and your own personal preferences, but I was unimpressed. The price point does not match the quality here - I feel like the food could be much cheaper (maybe $10-$12 entrees, especially during lunch hours). The spring rolls were just ok, but the peanut sauce was not good. It was very bland and had a weird texture to it - sort of almost a stringy or gummy quality that I've never seen before in a peanut sauce. The chow mein was super bland. The pork belly dish was very strange - interesting texture and flavor. We were all debating what it might have been made out of. Definitely not fatty, soft, chewy or anything similar to what you might be trying to get out of a pork belly dish if you were to order it expecting a similar mock version. The papaya salad was probably one of the most underwhelming papaya salads I have ever had- zero spice, the sauce tasted a bit too sweet, and the veggies did not feel very fresh. The thai tea was pretty good. Portland has too many great options priced similarly for me to want to return or to ever recommend eating here.

Great food. It vegan/vegetarian, but trust me, you will not miss the meat. My personal favorites are the curry and the Buddha bowl. The workers are friendly, however this space is not handicap friendly. We return again and again for comforting Vietnamese food.

Vân Hạnh remains my favorite vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant, if not my go-to vegetarian spot in the PDX metro area. It is still reasonably priced and has a decent portion size compared to most places. I would say it's a vegetarian place for sure. Yelp listed it as a Vegan restaurant, while Google Review showed Vegan and Vegetarian cuisine. If you are strictly vegan, I would suggest you ask for confirmation. The food quality is consistent while delicious as well. It's cozy inside with outdoor seating for non-rainy and non-windy days. Small family women-owned. Be patient with them during busy hours since often, only 1 or 2 are cooking and serving you. They both speak Vietnamese and are friendly. I love all the food items I have had in the last four years. My favorite and most frequent dishes are bitter melon soup with white rice and steamed bao. The Bánh Xèo/Vietnamese Crepe is decent only when dine-in; it doesn't hold well for takeout. They recently completed fixing their private parking lot area, which makes it much better. There is also a new traffic light for one way, turning East onto 82nd Avenue, making it safer to access their parking lot. Check them out whenever you get in the mood for a tasty vegetarian meal! P.G.R. (Post Google Review:) The restroom is upstairs, and the light switch is on the wall outside the door to your left. Be cautious walking up and down the stairs to the restroom since the steps are smaller and narrower than standard size. No toilet seat covers! Parking: Van Hanh has it own paved private parking lot.
