One of my favorite lunch spots for their delicious hand rolls. Their omakase is also amazing. Compared to some other pricier spots in town, TONARI/Uroko offered a much broader variety of flavors and textures, all made richer by little bits of context and history shared by their gracious staff. It set a new bar for me.

Absolutely top notch omakase at Tonari here. Every single roll was tasty, balanced, creative, and different from the rest. The sake pairings were well thought out, and brought each bite to a new level. They care about their craft here, and it shows.

Their hand rolls are the best! I love the California one but my husband’s favorites are the Tuna and the Salmon.

Update: We have also been to Tonari a few times now. This is our favorite sushi experience in Austin now. I didn’t take time to take good photos but trust the hype. It’s insane! Uroko is now a staple for us and it is our favorite spot in all of Austin! Taki is thorough and thoughtful. His team also prepares BOMB take out platters so you can do hand rolls at home. First time around we did a sushi making class and it was so much fun. Uroko offers them on Thursday for a max of four people. That may have changed since the original review. It’s worth the wait if you have to wait for a reservation. Thank you, Taki!

Uroko is an excellent, small Japanese restaurant if you're craving hand rolls. They serve all orders quickly, and I appreciated the quality of their fish. The hand rolls are fantastic, featuring a decent amount of fresh fish. We ordered Sake Toro, Hama Toro, and Blue Fin Tuna Taku. I highly recommend this place.

The omakase was incredible. My wife and I have been to Japan (it’s an amazing country) and this reminded me of it constantly - the food, atmosphere and the staff. I would 100% recommend it. What an experience!
