Wonderful sushi. Kind people. Absolutely top tier fish. There are plenty of places to get omakase, but this is the realest. If you’re in the area - don’t miss this. A true gem. Something special

I love Omakase experience. I was so excited to try it at this place. For $95 menu here, you will get something regular abt $20 to $30 at any other sushi menu in the city. We had a bottle of Sake for 3 to share. Each of us paid about $170 including 20% tip. It’s quite overpriced. Wish we could notice some special dishes or sushi quality at this restaurant so that we can talk about. Sorry!! I would not give it a second chance.

My wife and I come here on special occasions to get omakase. For the omakase, I recommend the bar seats where the chef will make everything in front of you and explain each item that is served. They are professional, personable, and attentive to your every request. All the fish are imported from Japan and the food is of course top quality. Although its a but pricy, just thinking about the whole experience puts a smile on my face and I am happy to pay for it. If you are looking for a total omakase experience, this is the place to go!

We stumbled upon this place as we ate at a place across the street a week ago (Carla). Last night we decided to go in and we were happy we did. We order the Omakase-IKI and the Omasake-Taukiji. Sit at the bar as the service allows for a one-at-a-time serving. Meaning you don't get all the sushi at the same time. My wife and I are extensive sushi eaters...this one is definitely a great place. Even the usual fish (like mackerel ) that is oily was not due to the freshness and the manner of preparation. Also, everyone who eats sushi knows they need soy sauce. Not here-the manner of the rice and sushi preparation allows you to enjoy the fish on its own merit.

These guys were incredible. Our show was going to start before our meal was going to be done, so they told us to go ahead and go to the show and we could either come back after, or just not finish and what we'd had was on the house. The food was incredible and I really wanted to finish the course so we came back, and they let us finish our meal even though they were closing up. I've never had such a considerate arrangement. They also redid my sushi when they accidentally used wasabi (I want to like wasabi, I'm just too sensitive to spice). Such incredible service and lovely staff! The plum wine is also really good, even my husband who doesn't normally drink had some!

Located near the heart of midtown, you would hope that the omakase experience would match its pricing with its quality and freshness. The pricing is on the higher end of omakase experiences, especially given the saturated omakase market all over NYC. Although there are definitely pricier options elsewhere, I can honestly say that I had better omakase experiences at lower costs than at Uogashi. The selection were less than mediocre and the freshness of the fish was suboptimal at best. You can see from the pictures that most of the pieces were typical omakase selections, with the exception of the conch, which was a refreshing touch but that was the only one. None of the other pieces left us feeling satisfied and maybe that's our fault for having our hopes up given its relatively high rating...but it was overall a very underwhelming experience. I honestly would not recommend this omakase experience unfortunately, for there are so many better selections out there where you don't feel cheated for the price you pay! Thank you for reading and good luck (:

Omakase was great! Matsu San is such a pleasure.
