Understory

I come here far too much and it's solely for one drink, the Van Dam. It's a tequila, charcoal powder drink that goes down far too easily. I'd vote for it to be one of the best cocktails in all of San Diego. The venue itself is nestled inside SkyDeck in Del Mar right above Jimbo's. Great place to get drinks after lunch or dinner right next door.

Parking: Plenty of parking. Park closest to Jimbo for easiest access Ambience: Loud, upbeat great for gatherings. Service: The service was great. Our server was very attentive. Food: Theres a QR code you can scan and order from any of the restaurants in the food district and they will serve it to your table. Majority of the food we ordered came from Glass Box. Overall: I love the idea of this community dining area. Only this you have to do is at least order something from them like drinks.

cute bar in the middle of sky deck. drinks were good, you can order food delivery from any and all of the vendors! although i did notice a couple dollar upcharge if you ordered from your table vs dined in/took out from the establishment directly.

Nice cocktail bar/lounge in the Del Mar area. You usually need to reserve in advance to get a spot here. But the cocktails are quite good and they have so many options. Love their attention to detail!

Love this place! Brought a group of friends here on a Saturday night and they enjoyed it so much! We love that we’re able to order food from the restaurants surrounding Understory! The drinks were tasty as always and the DJ had us grooving in our seats.
