Uncle Jack's Meat House

1st time... great time. Great food and atmosphere the moment you walk out in. Everyone was friendly and appeared happy to be there. Enjoyed the bacon appetizer then finished it off with a great steak. They even had a great selection of bourbons and whiskeys to choose from (Uncle Nearest ). I will be back whenever I'm in town again for work

(1) Ordered prime NY Strip, but got choice boneless rib eye - blackened to try to hide the difference. You cannot hide the eye of a rib eye. Sorry. I aced meat ID at the Culinary Institute of America 37 years ago. Cooked a lot of NY strip since that time. Manager claimed their NY strip looks different. Nope. (2) Way over-air-conditioned indoors (Duluth location), so we sat out on the patio. Fan blowing right in my face. Server says management has heard this complaint many times. Why didn't they do something about it? Had to get up and complain twice to clown guy at the front door. He's looking at me and giggling. (3) On a $150 check, they add $4.52 "surcharge fee" with no explanation. Server can't explain. Paid the surcharge but reduced the tip by equal amount. Effectively, the house took a chunk of the server's tip. These are signs that management is greedy and stupid. Won't be back. PS. I notice 3 other one star reviews (Haley M, Chevonne Harvey, Millette Terrell) within the last week.

.Shelly took care of us last night! She was great! My husband had steak and Mac and cheese and I had a burger! The burger was awesome! BUT the BACON with the homemade peanut butter had me asking Shelly if the sold the bacon by the pound! Good work Uncle Jack's

2nd time here, 1st visit was excellent and my husband often has business lunches here and is a big fan. This time we were disappointed. I ordered a custom burger with blue cheese and their famous maple bacon. When it arrived it had mac and cheese and blue cheese on it, no bacon. And the blue cheese? It was packed on there, the most blue cheese I have ever seen in any kind of serving in any kind of dish! I mean a HUGE chunk/slathering of it, super overwhelming, enough for 5 people's burgers!. By the time I had taken a few bites and realized that my burger was not correct (mac and cheese and blue cheese on a burger?...yuck), I waited for a while before the server got back in our area and we could get his attention, my husband patiently leaving his meal untouched as a courtesy to me, so his got cold. I will say this, the server admitted it was his error on entry to their POS system, and took it off the check. But no offer to bring me the bacon to put on the burger. Another positive was that the burger was perfectly medium rare so I kind of picked at just that part. The tuna poke appetizer was over-sauced and we could have truly done without the chunky cones they sit in and the popovers had zero taste of gruyere as advertised. I make gruyere popovers at home and these were just plain popovers for $3 a pop! The fries were meh, I should have gotten the side salad instead. Overall, we don't think we will be back for a while. #datenightfail

$49 for a Rib Eye? It better be awesome. But it wasn’t. I ordered medium rare and it was grey. No pink in there. Could have sent it back but the service was so slow I didn’t want to wait. Place was more than half empty. There are at least 100 other places where you can get a good Rib Eye for half the price. On top of this, everything is ala carte. This is a rustic cowboy atmosphere. At these prices I expect something more elegant like Capital Grille or Ruth Cris. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

"When are we coming back," said my bf. The service was a bit slow to start, but overall, it was fine. The friendly hostess may have noticed the delay so she took my drink order and served. Our server was really laid back and tried to help out as much as he could. We dined at an odd time, in between lunch and dinner, so it was relatively slow. Their ribeye steak was phenomenal. I loved the presentation and the cast iron plates. I only had a bite of the steak as I wasn't in the mood for something so heavy, but I'll get my own the next time I'm craving something more substantial. Their tuna nicoise was better than others, but not quite my favorite. Again, the dish looked amazing, but I found it a bit difficult to enjoy because of the the dry rub on the tuna. I ended up having to scrape off most of the rub. I can chew through peppercorn so I think it was some other ingredient.

$60 entree, no sides, 80 health score. Better get that steak "well done".

$54 for a single person to have a burger and a shot of Patron at lunch. Absolutely outrageous. To say I will never go back to this restaurant again is the biggest understatement of the century. They obviously think very highly of their items. I don't
