I had the pleasure of dining here Christmas week 2023 on a work visit in Alaska from Canada. To start with, the salad bar was packed with an impressive array of veggies, toppings and dressings to make one’s mouth water. I tried escargot for the first time at the behest of a work colleague but as it turned out, I didn’t really like it. Next, I had their Lobster Combo, a beautiful meaty and mouth watering lobster tail with a medium rare prime rib. I loved every bite of this and I want to call this my new favourite restaurant. The serving was quite generous and in the end I had to take some back to my hotel. All said and done with desert, I loved the experience but my only regret was not asking what the Australian lobster market price of the day was. The check turned out to be upward of $220 for 2 people before tip which I still think was well worth the experience. I will dine here each time I’m in Fairbanks, and as a matter of fact I will be reliving this experience this week as I happen to be in town all week again for work.

I've eaten here numerous times over the years. It's one of our go-to restaurants whenever we're in Fairbanks and it's always been very good food with a classic Alaskan atmosphere. They have a relatively simple menu but it's executed to perfection.

To summarize my experience, it was okay at best. - The prime rib fell short of expectations, lacking in flavor and tenderness. - The halibut chunks seemed to lack freshness, giving the impression of frozen food. - The complimentary bread served was notably cold. On the other hand, the fried mozzarella was alright. However, a highlight of the meal was the salad bar, which I found to be quite enjoyable and refreshing.

We came here with our Alaskan tour guide, as this place is THE local spot. The interior is neatly decorated, kind of frozen in time as a retro dinner (they have been around since the 1950s). The service was great! I really appreciate our waitress, who canceled an appetizer order I requested super speedily for me, and served our large group all our dishes and desserts attentively. I could see she was a little overwhelmed, so I really appreciate her efforts! Their salad bar had a great selection of ingredients, sauces and toppings, all which were fresh! I ordered their smallest prime rib cut, the Foxy Cut, which is 12oz! It was absolutely delicious!! My first prime rib, and it was perfectly seasoned, cooked a perfect medium rare, and was super tender. I had a baked potato as my side, which also hit the spot. I definitely had leftovers, and took those back to my lodge. Our server then brought out the dessert plate, and OMG were we ever spoiled for choice! I got the Snickersbar Pie, which was so luscious and chocolatey! This place is great spot to dine amongst the locals! I’d love to try their Alaskan King Crab legs next time I go (I’m just not sure how I’d finish them all on my own, my fiancé will have to help me!), as well as their crème brûlée. I definitely recommend this place for large, hearty and scrumptious Alaskan food! Parking: This restaurant has their own free parking lot. However, it can get very full around dinner time, despite its size!

Food wasn't great for $40 a plate or a quote a fine dining place. Waitress was awesome though. More of a bar or peanut shell steakhouse than fine dining.
