While I loved the atmosphere at Tosca, the food was disgusting. The gnocchi was mushy and its mushroom sauce was terrible. The Tuscan fried chicken had a tasty breading, but two of the pieces had bones! All in all, I would not come back.
Awesome place! We had delicious pasta and a charcuterie plate to start which was a must-try. Atmosphere is lively but can be a bit loud. Definitely worth a visit when you’re there!
Great atmosphere and superb drinks in the heart of North Beach. The house cappuccino is delicious!
Very friendly staff , food was amazing
My Father: Francesco "Frank" Guiseppi Ghilarducci's portrait still hangs on the wall from the year 1950's Italian American Dinner
Tosca is an SF institution - It's warm, cozy, and endlessly chic with old-school murals and checkered floors. The food & drinks are incredible. (Get the focaccia w/ ricotta to start.) It's my go-to spot for bringing out-of-town guests, date nights, business dinners, you name it.
What a North Beach treasure! Dined in with a group for a birthday dinner, and Tosca accommodated everything beautifully. As a fellow hospitality professional, everything was fantastic from the transition of courses to the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tosca has an abundance of old time charm, and the style of service is welcoming without being stuffy or overbearing. There menu itself is all fantastic (we samples quite a bit of it) but honorable mentions include the house focaccia, the Braised Short rib rigatoni, and the boozy cappuccino. All in all, wonderful evening. Will definitely be back for more!
