I’m so offended. I used to live in OXR for over a decade, was visiting the area, and thought I’d have a quick pizza and beer. I walk into the Grille side and wait behind a party of three that gets seated. A man and his daughter come behind me and the hostess doesn’t even acknowledge me and looks to them to seat them next. (The man was so rude to not let her know I was first but okay). Nothing like that had ever happened to me and it was so rude! I then try to ask her what the difference between the main restaurant and the Grille is and she said that one makes burgers and the other doesn’t??? She wasn’t even polite, at all. I’ve worked as a hostess and your job is to welcome people. She welcomed the others but not me. She had a massive attitude. I’m a pretty normal person and am just, at this point, so confused beyond reason as she directs me to the main Tortora’s restaurant. I sit at the bar, one sweet girl brings me a menu, and everyone else is aggressively cleaning like their life depends on it. But no one is making any eye contact with me. I kept having to ask myself if I was invisible. I mean of the two guys behind the bar - one is sweeping a hole into the ground! Mind you it’s 7:30… not even close to closing time. Finally a waitress asks me if I need a drink and I politely make up an excuse to leave. I’ve tried so hard not to cuss typing this but never. again. Tortora’s.. what’s going on?
First time there. The food was great, and so was Emily, our server. She worked hard.
For starters, they should close 9pm or later - at least the bar side. This was one of my favorite restaurants prior to covid - even after covid days (briefly). Without bringing up how tacky it is to charge for extra pasta sauce… whoops did it… The pasta is still amazing. Pizza has gone downhill. Go to Mazza’s. Wait staff has 15 minute conversations with friends instead of having the spacial awareness to realize her table needs more water/beer. If you don’t like onions, no worries, you can pick 50 pieces off your salad and laugh it off with your waitress… To end the night, add an uncooked Salmon filet to your primarily olive and onion salad. Wife has food poisoning currently. Enjoy!
It was so good my family and i enjoyed it. Dietary restrictions: my wife is gluten-free so she loved it. Kid-friendliness: It was so good my kids loved it.
This is such a an awesome place, the food is always top notch. My favorite thing is that they cook their salmon by temp. Such high quality salmon and sushi grade, I always get mine medium with the fried Brussels and mashed potatoes. The wait staff is always super attentive, quick and always have awesome recommendations for wine! If you're looking for a good date night spot or just an empty bar seat to chill it's a great restaurant through and through.
I’ve been going to Tortoras for about five years and can say it’s one of my favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is perfect for anyone who wants a really cool vibe with low lighting and an amazing waitstaff. The staff is extremely hospitable thanks to Jessie’s amazing leadership and Jenas bartending. My favorite dishes to get are the Tuscan Chicken and the Salmon ala Zucchini. The zucchini noodles are amazing and you can order the salmon to temp.
Little loud but friendly good service
Our second time here and it was as good as the first. The pork chop was maybe better than my husband was even expecting, and he had pretty high expectations. The sauce on my chicken pasta (Zorbino) was great as well. We ate both looking forward to the leftovers. Bartender Jessie (sp?) was soooo attentive, and she seems to really enjoy her job, which is great to see. The drive over from Madison is worth it!
