Tortoise & Hare

We wanted to try this place for the regular menu on a Saturday afternoon but was meet with the Brunch menu. We got the Irish Toastie and the French onion dumplings. The sandwich was OK, hashbrown was good (not that you can mess up a pre-made hashbrown) and the homemade slaw wasn't bad. We were looking forward to the FO dumplings but we're very disappointed. They didn't quite taste like what we were expecting and the cheese was good but a little excessively salty. Service wasn't bad and the drinks were OK. My Bloody Mary was very spicy so I tonned the 2nd down. She got the French espresso martini which she thought was too sweet but that's not their fault. We should have asked. Parking: If it's a nice day out the parking is packed with people going to Van Courtland Park across the street.

Restaurant was clean, stylish with windows to view the bustling street life passing by. Service was quick and pleasant. Rainbow roll and Unagi Nigiri melted in my mouth. Everything you'd want in a sushi restaurant! There is a 10% service fee added to the bill but the service was worth that plus a little extra, if you're feeling generous.

This pub has been our local favorite for years! It’s a fun, welcoming Irish bar with delicious bites. Their chicken strips with fries and Buffalo chicken nachos are my go-tos. Their Caesar salad is also great with homemade dressing and I add blackened chicken to it. Delish! We love this pub so much. The owner is incredibly welcoming and personable and the waitresses are attentive and friendly. We actually just had our sons first birthday party here because we love it so much. It was a wonderful celebration and everything was perfect. If you find yourself in Riverdale, def check this place out! It’s also right across from a huge park so that’s a plus.

My favourite Pub and the best Irish Pub! The staff are friendly and welcoming and, my wife and I always have a great time here. As a Brit living here, it's the first pub I've found in the NYC area that feels like a proper pub back home - it's worth the trip to the end of the 1 train. In the summer months, treat yourself to a refreshing pint that you can enjoy watching people play cricket in Van Cortlandt Park. In the colder months, play one of their many board games in front of the fire place with a decent ale and pub grub! Wheelchair accessibility: double doors at the entry with a mini ramp

Whether part of a group or on a solo visit, welcome is given. The staff are attentive, engaging, friendly and humorous. They truly make an effort to ensure that the customers return. The kitchen is tiny, yet the food is tasty. Dietary restrictions: When you share your dietary restrictions with the staff, they listen and advise which dishes are suitable. It is a relief to be heard and accommodated.
