There are many good dinner choices at Tomato Thyme, but eggplant Parmesan lasagna is not one of them. Do not order this entree or you will be severely disappointed. It’s not edible.
This was a favorite for years, and the kitchen is still pretty good. Lately things have declined in terms of front of house operations especially. Made a reservation by email which didn’t make it to the greeter’s desk; way too many tables crammed into too little space makes the ambient noise level atrocious, which is possibly why the waiter got both of our orders wrong, which could have been a non-issue if he had read back the order. Entrees (wrong as they were) were set down 60 minutes after ordering. Wine after that. Ugh. I’ll stay in next time.
We have been here several times with family, always a big crowd, they always accommodate us, the service is great, the food has always been done perfectly, I have no complaints, the only thing I would wish for is a little more variety in the menu. But they do what they do very well.
Tomato Thyme is a Willow Glen dinner staple. The vibe inside is warm and inviting. Each table comes with a jar of crayons and you can draw on the paper placemats. This can provide the table with a conversation starter or a fun round of tic tac toe with a sibling. We ordered the calamari appetizer, sole piccata and spaghetti alfredo. The calamari was light, crispy, and infused with garlic. The sole piccata did not disappoint! It was soft, savory, and melted in my mouth. The spaghetti alfredo could have used a little more pizzazz but it went down easily as well!
The waitress that we had was a good waitress. She was able to attend to us at the appropriate time is it make it seem like it was too long or too short in between interactions. The food was OK I ordered a pasta dish the sauce for it was too oily and it didn’t have enough flavor in it for my taste. The bread served was mediocre. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t a great appetizer. The presentation was great, and the building itself was clean Kid-friendliness: We have a little hidden menus and Little arts and crafts that they can doodle on to keep them entertained until the food arrives. Wheelchair accessibility: There were no steps so you could use a wheelchair and it was like a little ramp so everything is flat surface
The food is simply too good.
Had a great fried chicken sandwich.
Always a wonderful experience
