Maybe I was just unlucky the night I went, but I was very disappointed in the food. The lamb was good, but everything else was so-so. The portions were really mean. I know it’s “tapas” but in the Basque Country the tapas dishes would certainly come with more food and for a lot cheaper. To be fair this isn’t just this restaurant’s fault, London has mastered most cuisines, but Spanish/Basque food, it hasn’t. Everywhere thinks it can get away with tiny plates of food charged at an extortionate rate but that’s not even authentic.
Great food, wonderful service
Feel bad leaving a poor review but the service was SO bad. No one came over to us for about a half an hour, waiting for food for over an hour, some arrived cold. Brought people visiting here and was embarrassed I chose it!
The servers were lovely and the food was good, but we had to wait an hour before our first dish arrived lukewarm, and then every dish after that took 20-30 mins to arrive. There for 2.5 hours and had 4 dishes. They mentioned they had a new chef starting that night and it really showed unfortunately!
This is literally my first Google review ever but I'm moved to give Tokova a plug as it is the most fabulous restaurant. In a word the food is exciting. Bursting with flavour, very original and deeply, deeply satisfying. Proper choices for veggies. V decent wines too. Oh, and charming staff!
Absolutely fantastic basque restaurant with food up there with ...well basque country! In addition a lovely cooking crew and a charming host who brings art to the plate which is second to none. And also located in possibly the best in door food market in Europe. Cross town guys...this is the real deal!
I almost never leave reviews, but the food here was absolutely exquisite and everyone was incredibly kind and engaging. One of the best places i've ever eaten at in London. Hands down.
