I purchased the medium roast directly from the roaster at a farmers market and it is absolutely delicious. At the very least tied with my favorite beans I have ever bought.

Had my delivery yesterday and eagerly awaited this morning for my first taste. Was not disappointed!! Honestly very different than any coffee I've tasted (I typically buy from a variety of our other local roasters). Nice acidity level, big aroma (whole home is filled with it just from grinding the beans!), very earthy flavour with a chocolate undertone and a unique finish. I do like my coffee with a little milk and small amt of sugar (blasphemy to some) - so good! People who enjoy their coffee black would also be in for a real treat!! All that combined with a very moving background story - support this business and give yourself a treat!!

I really enjoyed my first order of the delicious, freshly roasted Rwandan coffee! I ordered the medium-roast, and it had such a unique, pleasant aroma and taste. I felt spoiled each morning with my morning cup! Definitely will order again--hoping to try the dark roast this time.

This coffee is excellent. I really love the flavour and fullness of it. The medium roast is basically perfect for me, as it is a medium-dark roast with lots of the rich flavour I like. The dark roast is delicious, but be forewarned, it is extremely dark. The beans are pitch black and glistening, as you'd expect. If you drink a Starbucks dark roast and think to yourself "Yeah, this is good, but it could be a little stronger," then this is the coffee for you! If that's not your thing, I'd suggest the medium roast. Overall, this is wonderful coffee from a great local Winnipeg company.

I recently ordered a 16 oz. package of Thousand Hills coffee and first taste revealed a bold, robust flavour experience. A wonderful 'wake-up' to my morning and I find that I'll continue to drink this coffee throughout my day. A surprising perk was the personally delivered package to my door! I hope to continue to support a great local entrepreneur such as Thousand Hills coffee in Winnipeg MB. I will definitely make another order sometime soon. Thank You Sim!

Tried Thousand Hills Coffee for the first time after reading about it in the community paper. Loved the story behind the product (Sim and Julia) and always try to support local (here in Winnipeg and at the producer level). We usually order our coffee from a Fair Trade roaster on Vancouver Island that has coffees from around the world. But we've never tried Rwandan coffee and were intrigued. We ordered both the medium and dark beans. Generally we favour dark roasted almost oily beans, but we sometimes "mix in" some medium roast for the fruitiness. Thousand Hills Coffee met all expectations! The flavour is unique to any other coffee we've had before (even compared to Congolese coffee) and very different from the coffees of East and South East Africa, as well as Latin and South America. Our favourite was the dark roast - I read another review that stated this was an extremely dark roast, and maybe there is some roast to roast differences, but ours was "spot on" not too dark and just dark enough. We enjoyed the medium roast as well, a little smoother with less undertones. I think our next experiment is a grind of about 3/4 dark and 1/4 medium beans...our "house blend". Thank you Sim and Julia!
