This was our second visit to the Tubby Pig Brewpub, which is part of the SW Florida Ale Trail. We looked forward to trying this place in order to get our Ale Trail passports stamped and possibly discover something we like here. The first time we visited here, the parking lot was empty and their phone went unanswered when we called during hours published as being Open. We approached the front door and saw broken blinds in the front window which gave the appearance of being unmaintained. After we saw some new reviews by others that liked the place, we decided to give Tubby Pig another try. Despite the same appearance from the outside, we thought the price advertised was fantastic, as the sign outside promoted $3 for pints of beer. We walked in and sat at the bar, which was unattended. We asked another customer and was told someone would be around. No one came by for a while and then a woman came up behind us and asked us what we wanted. One important question was which beers were $3. The woman pointed out little handwritten menus along the bar and handed us each one. The menus had handwritten corrections on it and each one with different parts corrected and we had to ask for prices of the one we wanted to try. The woman took our order and disappeared in the back somewhere. Then is when we noticed there were NO beer taps anywhere at the bar, nor anywhere in sight. Just where this woman went to pour the beer, we will never know. When she reappeared, she had no beer and her attention was diverted by other customers who needed something. She disappeared again and when she reappeared, she told us the beer was taking a while because it was very foamy today. She tried to get us to order food, but we were here for the beer. Finally, she appears from behind us again with two beers in hand. Hallelujah! We ordered a Bock and an Amber Lager. Neither was the dark color typical of Bock beers. I asked if the slightly darker one was Bock and she insisted the other lighter one was. That Bock tasted too sweet and syrupy for my liking and the Amber Lager reminded us of apple juice. I have no idea what we were drinking, but now I know how important it is to see beer actually being poured from a tap. Of all the breweries on the SW Ale Trail, this was our least favorite. Our final impression was something that made me feel very uncomfortable. As we walked out, we were followed by someone from the inside, possibly a customer, to our car. This person wanted us to look at her business cards and started a sales pitch for her home cleaning services. My sixth sense spiked just then and made me think this was just to distract me as we got into the car. I checked my surroundings, quickly hopped in the car, and headed out of there. We do not plan to return.

This may be the worst place in the entire state of Florida. Avoid at all cost.

This was my 3rd time in 3 years, but first time aince they started serving beer. The first 2 times i was looking for their beer, but they didnt have any yet, even though the sign said Brew Pub. We sat at the bar and the waitress took our food orders only, from behind the bar, and a waiter took our beer orders while standing behind us, which was a little weird. Apparently the beer is kept in the back, which may explain why all 3 i tried were served too warm and flat. Our apps tasted like they were warmed up in an air fryer, and the dipping sauces tasted like they were just poured out of a bottle. The bill was mich higher than i anticipated. We didnt try any of their bbq so i cannot comment on that. In retrospect i wish i had tried some bbq pork. There arent many breweries in this area, but i wouldnt return to this one unless they hire a real brewer to do their brewing. Then i would give the beer a 2nd chance.

Had spring rolls and they were incredible. Beer was on special for $3 a pint. Spoke with the gal that made the spring rolls and totally enjoyed her company!!! This brewpub is an eclectic mix of homemade BBQ and Asian cuisine with a unique style of brews. Not for the pretentious and certainly a good time.

The food and the cider shandy I had were incredible…totally delicious. You can tell everything is made in-house, fresh and with purpose. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The only drawback to this place (And it’s seriously NBD) is the complete absence of decor. There’s seriously no ambiance - maybe even negative ambiance if you’re not with the right people - but after you’ve had a beer or two, it seems to matter somewhat less. Try anything involving meat and the decor will matter even less!
