We absolutely love this place. It holds so many special memories for us and our family. Over 50 years of them and still coming. I hope we can hold on to this gem for at least our lifetime. We go about 3 times a year and always enjoy our stay. Thank you to all the ones that keep it alive!
Great historical hotel in a great spot downtown
Great hotel. Excellent stay. Very clean and fun place! We had pretty much the entire place booked. Tom and Melanie were wonderful. They went above and beyond!
Beautiful historic hotel. Walking distance to places not bad...
Restaurant Rating, not hotel. They need to have better signage that the restaurant is now just the bier hall in the back next to the bier garden. Especially something more warming to enter through than a door that states "must be 21 after 9pm". Also something better accessible for older folk. I'm all for German Heritage, I took Herr Koors classes and went to Germany with him but the hall resembles more of a German themed bar than a bier hall. On to the food. Definitely bar food vibes which it's a bar in the back good job, nailed it. I had the Pool Hall Cheese burger. Don't get the bier cheese option only, it's awful without cheese. I had to assemble my burger myself and pour my own cheese on it which does not stay on the burger or have flavor and it made my bun tear apart. If I wanted to eat at a bar I would have stayed in Oldenburg and eaten at the Pub. I have no idea what made them choose this business decision but it was definitely a poor one and doesn't honor the restaurant known as the Sherman.
Found a gem from Google maps! We drove from St Louis to Ohio to pick up a much needed boat part. We wanted to stay somewhere decent heading towards home, searched historic hotels and found this. The room was perfect. Fresh, clean, new, welcoming, and the bed/linens/pillows 5*****. We enjoyed the Beer Garden's live music and good food. Try the sauerkraut balls...yummers.
Great boutique kind of hotel. Old school that has been updated nicely. The management was great as was the service in the Bier Hall.
We thought this place was so interesting!! We got to talk to the owner about the time and effort that went in to recreating the buildings historical charm. They chose colors and decor that complements the time period and spent extra care preserving the original woodwork. The rooms are updated to modern standards, so don't worry!! The bathrooms are clean and updated as well. The Staff all greeted us with smiles. We had a wonderful weekend stay. If I had to pick on anything... it would be the mattresses...omg they are firm firm with a side of FIRM... Like laying on the floor firm. That's minor at best though and we will definitely go back to stay there whenever my husband's work has meetings and parties in Batesville. Thank you!!
