The Regular

Odd. Just a weird vibe. The place was generally empty when we arrived Saturday night at 6pm. Not a great sign. They started to seat us right in the middle of the room, so we asked for a better spot. The hostess had us go all the way back out to the waiting room, sit down, as she shuffled the empty restaurant around to accommodate our request. In about 20 seconds, she found an open 2-top along the bench. Why not just move us over? Weird procedure. Next, the music was not calm, not easy to talk over, it was loud and made up of the strangest mix tape of classic songs, new songs, every make and model of melody you could imagine all in a jambalaya of noise. It was much too loud and chaotic. When asked to turn it down, they complied for a bit, then turned it right back up. The restrooms had even louder music. The drinks were tasty, but lacking in alcohol. It was hard to taste any strength- and for $19/each you'd expect more. The wine was similarly lacking - expensive and obviously opened yesterday. The food- for the price, you would expect a lot more. We had four small plates and one larger plate. The flavors were good, but nothing incredible. All in all, our bill was about $300 for two people and unfortunately not worth it. Things that would drastically improve the vibe: Servers were attentive, but hovering and doting. It was hard to carry on a conversation because they would interrupt so often. There is no need to circle and interrupt so often. The servers were also nice, but also cold and impersonal. Turn the music down and get a normal playlist that is less jarring. Make your drinks stronger and less petit. Create a culture of smile, friendliness, and ease with the servers. Improve your pricing- or improve your food. There is a disconnect between expectations.

My wife and I recently went to The Regular. We had the most incredible time. Once we walked in, we experienced a very cool, warm, hip lounge like vibe. The restaurant was beautiful. I started with a Vanderbilt Bunny which is a lighter smoother take on a Boulevardier. My wife enjoyed a Tears of Dawn’s Simplicity which was very light and smooth. It was presented in a beautiful delicate cup with a flower frozen in a round ice cube. Each drink was served in a glass specifically selected. It was very evident that significant thought was placed in every aspect of the restaurant. The plates were beautiful which complemented the incredible food. The variety of food was very refreshing. There was a twist on every appetizer and entrée. We started with the oysters which were absolutely beautifully presented in a bright green sauce served over a bed of shiny pebbles. Each oyster was dressed with three colorful drops of oil. The salmon Toradito was equally wonderful with brilliant yellow and orange colors. The salmon was complimented with a small crispy corn crunch. We then had the Peking Duck and Short Rib. The portions were very large and hearty. The half duck was served with crispy skin, unique blend of spices on a bed of Parsley risotto which was perfectly cooked. The breast meat was super tender and the leg meat fell off of the bone. The short rib (which included two large portions) was easily enough for two. The short rib was decadently delicious. It literally fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Needless to say, we were unable to finish both entrées. I was able to get a glimpse of the whole Seabass with chimichurri sauce go by to another table. It looked incredible. We concluded with a smooth velvety sweet potato custard. This was also so very unique- unlike anything I have ever tasted before. It was great. Unfortunately it is seasonal. Overall we had an incredible experience. This was not simply eating a great meal. It was an event we truly enjoyed. When you are sitting at the table, you smile at everything. We definitely will be back with Friends.

We visited after a local recommend the Regular for their cocktails. We appreciate a good, well balanced cocktail. The atmosphere was nice, the staff seemed okay. Honestly they all seemed stressed out. In the end the service was good but not very welcoming and personal and the cocktails seemed a little pretentious. Mine literally tasted like a wet cigarette, but that is my opinion. For the price, I would much rather spend my time somewhere like Death and Co.

My daughter and I visited The Regular last night for dinner. We had a delightful time. Miriah our server took such great care of us and staff were so kind. We shared 2 small plates and each had a large plate. Everything was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful evening. 11/10

The food was great. Save room for dessert. The Sphere is beautiful and delicious.

One of the most beautiful bars & restaurants I have been to. The cocktails are creative and so very delicious. The food is amazing - creative, elevated, breathtaking. The service is perfect. A perfect evening toppedd off perfectly by Nostalgia, a 3 drink flight from teacher's bane (bubblegum infused and bubbly), Saturday morning cartoons (fruity pebbles!) to a night at the movies (a Brown butter popcorn infused take on an old fashioned). Truly amazing. Thank you to Alex and Ian. We loved our evening at the Regular!

I recently dined at The Regular in Denver and was thoroughly impressed. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, with servers who were both fun and extremely courteous. The oysters topped with caviar were enjoyable, though the $70 price tag felt a bit steep for the flavor provided. However, the bread service quickly made up for any reservations; both the pretzel and brioche were warm, soft, and delicious, hitting all the right sweet and savory notes. The family-style short rib was a culinary highlight, possibly the most succulent and delicious short rib I have ever enjoyed, with each of the sides being equally delectable. But it was the dessert that truly stole the show. The Sphere, Butternut Squash Creme Brulee, and especially the Tonka Bean Custard with caviar were among the best desserts I’ve ever had. The Tonka Bean Custard was a revelation, blending sweet and savory so expertly that it left a lasting impression. Dining at The Regular is a memorable experience with its blend of impeccable service, comfortable atmosphere, and exquisite dishes. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-tier dining experience in Denver.

The Regular is a true gem with a cozy ambiance, tasteful design, and exceptional service. The food is not only beautiful, but also matched with unique combinations of flavors. The filet with potato puree is my favorite- such a heavenly combination. The desserts are mind bending, especially the tonka bean with caviar. I'm glad to be a regular at The Regular!

The staff and service was amazing - truly 5 stars. The food was great, just overall quite expensive for what it is.

Really excited for this new restaurant and some issues may be growing pains.. Service was quite slow, specifically the drinks. Kind and helpful staff, but the food quality did not match the price point. Lobster was intensely over-salted and duck left much to be desired. I also wish they would have read the reservation notes, as people celebrating an occasion leave those notes so as not to have to talk about it at the meal. Overall just not a very impressive experience, especially for a special occasion.
