The Purple Onion Deli & Grill - Pelham

The food was ok but the person ringing us up added $2.25 for a tip and said push the green button without explaining what it was! The tip was only for a person to carry your tray to you when it was ready! I would gladly get up when they call my name and walk 20 feet to get my food instead of paying $2.25 without my knowledge. The receipt just had the total and not the items ordered or the tip. It seems dishonest. You get your own drinks and refills, too. The “tip” should be added into the price of the food instead of done that way in my opinion.

They can't speak English and didn't help with order at all and ask for tip before I got my food! I ask for no cheese and fries with my loaded potato with shrimp and I got extra cheese and no fries so.

Best hamburger around, in my opinion. Quick and friendly staff. Indoor or outdoor eating area.

I was here earlier and the older gentleman told me the reason my card did not go through was because there was no money on it. That wasn’t the case so I suggested maybe it was their card reader. I tried Apple Pay that failed, used another card and it failed as well. I literally used my card at Wendy’s prior to arriving at Purple Onion with no issues. The customer service was a -10 and the older guy comment was unnecessary and definitely not professional. I went to another restaurant and guess what, my card worked. Will I be back, absolutely not!

I have been going to one Purple onion or the other since the 90's. I'm a fan. They have the best iced tea in Birmingham.
