Kaffee und Kuchen wirklich lecker.

Their pastries are good but it’s is unhelpful how they do not list the prices at the window. Plus, the bad and impractical design of placing the seating at the window just asks for awkward moments of having cafegoers be in the way of ordering and is a hassle.

My friend had a lovely scone. I personally wouldn’t hurry back for the service though . For example “not having the right change” is understandable but possibly avoidable with forethought and certainty not the problem of the customer and refusing a second stamp on a loyalty card for a second coffee is a little churlish, given I could have paid individually and got the stamp. I handed the one stamp card back but no one seemed that interested so not really getting the right vibe from me.

Just delicious and brilliant. The Persian love cake with cardamon and pistachio is out of this world.

OK so I really had a dilemma whether to post this review because I have loved Pastry Section to bits since it has launched. But something happened over the last couple months and the caked lost a lot of their quality. I’ve always enjoyed trying a new flavour from the shop and PS was always sure to have the most exquisite textures with fluffy and light toppings that were full of flavour and amazing cake bases. But now I’ve had the third cake in a row that just feels heavy, greasy and actually without much flavour (other than sugar). It’s actually hard when you try to stick a fork in it and the Pastry Section almond base has always been one of the best! The staff are still lovely and some of the PS staples (like the brownies, frangipanes, and Persian love cakes) do seem to hold their quality better. So this is just a piece of feedback that a few of my friends also noticed that something is off. I hope that whatever it is, it is just temporary as would be a shame to stop having a reason to go to Stockbridge as the weekend.

We were in Edinburgh for 5 days, visited this place twice even though we didn't stay close. The "millionaire's shortbread" (or something like that) was completely and utterly delicious.
