This place is awesome. Me and a friend went for bottom-less mimosas and let me tell you they do not disappoint. You know how sometimes you go to a bottom-less brunch and the server barely comes to refill your glass? Well this place does the opposite, before I was half done with the glass they would top me off. Such great service and the food was yummy too, I would suggest a little something sweet like hot honey or hot maple syrup on the chicken biscuit sandwich though. If you want a nice healthy day drinking sesh with a bestie highly recommend!
Super-friendly neighborhood bar that always has a good vibe. Speaking as someone whose preference isn’t beer, bonus points that they have a solid menu of wine by the glass and food too. Excited to go back.
Seriously one of my favorite places. I’ve never not had a wonderful time and amazing food. I’ve been here with my family and friends for an early dinner out with our 6-7 year olds and it was great, and I’ve come here for drinks with colleagues after a work event and ended up having dinner at the bar alone afterwards because the food was just so good. I think I’ve now been to Monkey’s Paw 5 or 6 times and all the servers/ bartenders/ host have been super friendly and accommodating every single time. I cannot rate this place high enough! It’s a gem!!
*HIGHLY* recommend. Been coming through the years for apps and drinks and always had a good time. Just leaving my first brunch and I would ride into WAR for our waiter. Bottomless is a MINDSET. Biscuits and gravy were lovely too
Highly recommend visiting for a cocktail & appetizers. The ambiance is so cozy and the whiskey selection is great. They have such a good Old Fashioned!
This place is probably rated highly for a reason but we clearly had a very uncomfortable experience. My friend and I ordered a couple of drinks and apps. We kept experiencing an uncomfortable draft of cold air, especially near the floor. Our table was not by the doors - the cold draft wasn't because of doors opening and closing. It's winter and I understand that temperatures cannot be at a desired level for everyone. However, we informed three different waiters and all of them were dismissive of our concern. Folks from another table also complained of the temperature and they were promptly seated at a different table. I wonder if the color of our skin made the waiters decide that we weren't worthy of that consideration. Anyway, the final straw was when the third person we informed of the cold draft, told us to "go get socks". You're in a hospitality industry and the 101 of any service industry is to listen to a customer at the least. It's ok to disagree with them but treat them in a way that they would want to come back. Clearly you chose not to want the business of non-white individuals. I've never experienced this kind of attitude ever in Chicago. Big shame.
The burger was just okay. The Brussels sprouts were awesome. May not go back. There are too many delicious burger joints in the Chi to revisit. Sorry
i keep on getting wiped to primadon. its pretty fun with friends tho 5/5
