The Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill

1st time going here even though I lived in the Bay Area for 14 years. Glad my friend suggested it for Saturday Brunch. Their Price-Fix for the Brunch is a great deal.

A great dog friendly spot to have lunch after a walk around Lake Merritt. Relaxed atmosphere, views from pier, shade with umbrellas and a water dish for the dog. Not too crowded during the week. Crab cakes were tasty, but rather small. Seared Ahi salad was also delicious. Extensive beer and cocktail menu.

A good friend of mine suggested that my young daughter and I have lunch with her at Lake Chalet. It was a Monday and parking was Apple. I got a spot right out front. My first thought upon arrival was wow what an immaculate view! My daughter is two years old, so I really appreciated the scenic suggestion provided by my girlfriend. We decided to sit inside because it was unusually hot this past Monday afternoon. I was a bit nervous as my daughter can sometimes be antsy, as most hungry toddlers are. The host stand was busy. We happen to have caught the beginning of the lunch rush l, but it wasn't overcrowded by any means. The hostess was diligent, but a bit slow in her movement. She was pleasant to us upon arrival, and gave my daughter, some crayons and the kids' menu which occupied her for a few moments. This is one of those spots where you just want to come with a friend or even a group and just enjoy yourselves. I don't believe service is meant to be fast because it was not on this particular afternoon, however, it wasn't excruciatingly slow. We myself were in and out, within an hour to my surprise. My friend had been to this location a few times so she was able to guide me around the menu a bit. I ordered the Sirloin for my daughter from the kid's menu. The servings for the children are definitely on the large side which I don't mind because who doesn't love leftovers? Her steak was prepared beautifully. I was able to cut it with a butter knife! It was served with fries and a nice assortment of fruit. My daughter ate the entire steak and I even got a taste of it. It was hands-down, the best-tasting steak I've ever tasted on a children's menu in the Bay Area. My girlfriend and I both got the Lobster Rolls which came with phenomenal Parmesan fries and a unique slaw salad. We also devoured half a dozen Miyagi oysters. Mojitos were on our minds so we had a couple of those as well which were tasty. After getting a peep at the patio, I only wish we had chosen to sit outside. The setup looked lovely. I cannot wait to return and look forward and doing so with a couple of girlfriends or with my husband.

Ambience and service 4.5. Food 3. Situated on a beautiful lake, lake chalet's setting is gorgeous. Super nice servers. The drinks are awesome. Come for a drink outside to enjoy the amazing views. The food is so so. I would recommend stick with the usual American fare. Burger and truffle fries. Fried Calamari. Avoid any sides that seem fusion. The tamarine mushroom was super saucy and may have caused diarrhea for my mom. Music is old school. Rock and roll music. The restaurant would be more popular if they play some loungey music instead.

2 stars because service was good. The seafood linguine was a joke. Couldn't understand if it was mini arugula salad or sea food linguini. Calamari was very chewy and cold. It has a good view of the lake but the food was on the down side for me.

Always a miscommunication here. Use to love this place. Bartenders great. Waiters need to be replaced asap

Always a great experience here! Food is great, could be a little better but it's satisfying. Ambiance is impeccable, great views of the water that you forget your in Oakland . Service has its ups and down but it's a great place for date night or birthday dinners . Lake chalet is always my go to!

1 star only for location. I’ve been to the spot for drinks and it was ok but idk what is up with their service. Everyone, and I mean over 7+ different employees were either incredibly rude, nonchalant or made mistakes with order request ( salsa vs hot sauce, brought out old drink cut lemon instead of lime, had no ranch for fries etc). Everyone seems to have an attitude for no reason and isn’t willing to accommodate. Went again a few days ago with a friend for lunch, thought maybe it will be a better experience. The restaurant opens at 12, we were there at 12. They told us they are still getting ready to open up so we had to sit OUTSIDE and wait till 12:30 to be let in for lunch. The food was below mediocre ( $65+ and no drinks) and the staff was again, nonchalant. They didn’t let anyone sit on the deck either… idk why. Anyways, If you decide to go, I’d go only for drinks and on a weekend so you can sit out on the deck and enjoy the view.
