Food- 4 stars. Had a tortilla soup that was special, delicious, and clearly made with heart and a strong recipe. Unfortunately, it came with unwanted, unmentioned cheese garnish. Service- 5 stars. Good service, good timing, friendly, communicated the special of the day and greeted me immediately. Atmosphere- 3 stars. For an “after-work beer and bite,” or “catching the game with friends,” this place *should* deliver pretty well. I was caught off guard in that the news audio was playing, pretty loudly, instead of music or game audio. Sure, elections are going on and people care a lot about that, but it’s hardly what I want to eat and drink to at after work. Had one beer and took an app to go. I think I would’ve stayed for more food/another drink if the news audio weren’t playing. I might give it one more shot to try their other food if I’m in the area again.
Great bar with tasty food and good service
I’m so happy this place took over the old Cortland’s spot. The atmosphere is an awesome neighborhood joint. The tv situation is absolutely ideal for catching multiple games. John the bartender has is awesome, makes a mean marg and a meaner old fashion. The food though, sheeeshhh, come hungry, leave happy. Get food here. Quesadillas are MASSIVE and so good. I think the best is their brisket steak sandwich. Where has this sandwich been my whole life. Currently on the specials menu, please make this a full time thing.
Best bar I have been too yet in Chicago John is such a nice and friendly bartender. I definitely recommend going here if it’s your first time going out in Chicago.
Went to The Hurley Tap on 12/5 and shared the Texas Cheesesteak & Baked Mac and Cheese with my boyfriend. Holy cow was the food incredible!!! The queso is also a must. It is zesty and spicy and delicious!! The service here is great and I am amazed that two men (one runner/busser/etc and one server/bartender/etc) take on the whole front of house!! Such a nice atmosphere & a great place to watch sports!
