Prices are so high! Not worth it. 2 eggs for $9 excl tax. Waffles $15. Pancake plain with 2 eggs and 2 small mini sausage or bacon for $16 ! The owner is crazy! Avoid this place! As I saw on other tables, the presentation is not wow. Its an old cafe. You feel depressed inside. Self service. If you want to enjoy a breakfast, avoid this cafe! Go somewhere else
Best waffle Ive ever eaten!! Omelette is
Have lived this place since the early ‘80’s!
PRO'S: The French House Cafe is a wonderful limited menu breakfast & lunch place. Sandwiches, tartans & salads with fresh ingredients are made while you wait. To go meals are good options. CON'S: None really. Sometimes parking is a slight distance. SUMMARY: The French House Restaurant is a regular family stop for breakfast brunch & lunch. Kid-friendliness: Owners welcome adults & children. Wheelchair accessibility: First floor restaurant with wheelchair accessible bathrooms
Food was mediocre at best, their idea of hash browns and cheese were literally frozen hash browns with 2 slice of cheeses over it Skip review and just go to la Madeline instead The “French toast “ wasn’t very French or appetizing the bread was hard to cut and piece up Staff was amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I've eaten here twice, several weeks apart. The first time was excellent! The food was outstanding. The bacon was cooked to order, the eggs were perfect, and the toast was perfect. The second time not as good. The bacon looked like it was left over from the prior day's breakfast, and the waffle was cold when served. Service is basically self-serve, so not sure why a yip is requested for picking up your own food, coffee, table service, and condiments. If you like European strength coffee this the place for you. I will give it one more try, but there are other places in Houston that provide superior food and service in the same price range - $15 to $20 per plate.
