The Crack Shack - Little Italy

Just don't get the fries before sundown. The ones I got were so oily my intestines decided to explode. The chicken burgers were pretty good.

Little Italy isn’t the first place that comes to mind if you are in the mood for fried chicken, chicken sandwiches and all the in between. Although Italian food reigns in little Italy, there is a spot that has one of the most delicious fried chicken sandwiches in the city - The Crack Shack. This small fast casual dining chain is situated at the corner of Kettner Blvd & W Juniper St. there is only outdoor seating, but pretty ample covered seating. It’s a no frills - order your food at the counter, get your number, and take your seat kind of eatery. Your order will be brought out to your table. What I didn’t expect was a full bar on the deck, so you can get your drink on while waiting for your food. Service was decent and as expected for the a pretty much self-serve eatery. There is a wide variety of hot sauces at the Sauce Station, which was wonderful as everyone’s has their own favorite sauce or level of spiciness. I ordered the Coop Deville with the Shack Fries, and an IPA on draft to wash it all down. The chicken was seasoned well, fried nicely and not dry at all. The slaw was good, but could have used a bit more seasoning, but definitely added an additional layer of flavor tot he sandwich. Seems like the owners thought the build of this restaurant out well. Aside from delicious chicken, a full bar to enjoy, there’s also a game section for the young and the young at heart to keep the fun going. Although parking can be tricky on weekends and high traffic times, it’s worth it.

Great for a quick bite and has plenty of places to sit. I got the firebird, it was not my favorite but it was good. The cocktails are good and the service was great.

We were in town from Chicago, and friends recommended this place. My fried chicken sandwich was wonderful, the cabbage slaw on top was delicious. Loved the sauces, especially the pineapple mustard. The atmosphere was fantastic with the lights and open air. Great place for a quick, delicious meal in San Diego

We visited San Diego from Colorado and wanted to try a restaurant that isn't available in Colorado, so in comes the crack shack. We had the firebird chicken sandwich and the 5 pc tenders and fries. The chicken sandwich was pretty good, no complaints there, and the tenders were fresh but lacked seasoning, so they were lacking taste. The fries had an odd flavor. I'm guessing it is the oil they are cooked in, but I don't like it personally. Another thing I didn't like was the lady giving out the to go orders was extremely rude and looked like she hated her job and gave dirty looks. Overall, it's an ok place, but I wouldn't return, due to price flavor but I do recommend trying them out for yourself, and again, this isn't a negative review it's just a neutral one.

The search for the best chicken sandwich in all the land is over. The best fried chicken sandwich ever! An incredible chicken sandwich fried to perfection, the right amount of spice, and the employees were patient and great providing suggestions!!! A must try! Their bbq, pineapple mustard, or Sriracha thousand island all great sauces to enjoy as well!

Great place for a quick dine-in in downtown San Diego! Loved their chicken oysters and sandwich! Everything was delicious. It is next to San Diego airport, so you can watch plains landing while ordering. They have a children's playground as well. Loved the vibe, food and service. Would definitely recommend :)

These pictures do it no justice! Amazing after every bite. Very flavorful. First time here and will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. The shakes are a must!
