I recently organized a sizable gathering (18+ people), involving a substantial group of over 550 individuals. Before the event, I took the initiative to contact your establishment to discuss the logistics, but unfortunately, there seems to have been a miscommunication regarding the billing policies. I had anticipated that those who wished to order drinks could do so individually at the bar, especially considering that our group comprised individuals who were primarily meeting independently. Regrettably, I was not informed about the policy of consolidating all expenses onto one bill, subsequently splitting and adding a 20% gratuity. This lack of clarity resulted in a significant financial discrepancy for most attendees as many attendees ended up paying double the anticipated cost, causing frustration and disappointment. I offered to remove the server from our area and order individually, which was denied. I was also informed that the server would communicate the policy before each individual ordered but that didn't occur, causing quite a lot of confusion during the closing of the bill. Some individuals wanted to pay others' bills thus adding an additional card count to one of the cards to lower the cost for each person and that was not taken into account either. The server didn't allow for one card to count as 2 card counts for couples either. We were not in a dedicated event space or have any space reserved. If that were the case, I could have somewhat understood some of this. Moving forward, I kindly request that your establishment ensure transparent communication regarding billing policies, especially for events involving diverse and sizeable groups. This will contribute to a more positive experience for both event organizers and attendees alike. I understand that managing large groups can present challenges, and I believe open communication about billing practices beforehand would have greatly alleviated this situation. This has left a poor taste in my mouth and I unfortunately will not be returning or hosting large events there.
