Jacob was our server. Very knowledgeable about dishes on the menu. Great service & we decided on the tamale on Travel Thursday. Dinner very good and great atmosphere. Enjoyable experience as usual

My wife and I don’t get a chance to go out to dinner very often, but when we do, we try to support local and hope for a great meal. Now that The Cheel is back after their tragic fire, we wanted to go show some support. I was really impressed with the decor when we walked in. Quite modern and fresh, but cozy at the same time. The hostess was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested that we enjoy ourselves. Our waitress was also very friendly and equally helpful. She took the time to explain the menu and offered some suggestions. When I first looked at the menu, I was a bit taken aback by the prices of the cocktails. I really wanted one, but refuse to pay more than $10 for a good cocktail (which many nice restaurants in Milwaukee offer, the cheapest here was $14 and went up to $30… for one cocktail), so I opted for a beer. I appreciate how The Cheel was able to keep a concise food menu but still offer a good variety. Like others have mentioned, the brussel sprouts are amazing, but the steamed veggie momo were nothing special. I ordered the variety plate which included boar and chicken. The chicken thigh, being tender and flavorful, was the highlight, but nothing that remarkable. I’m not sure why, but the boar had a really bitter taste to it. I was able to offset that by ordering the tamarind sauce. It seems like the boar would be better served pulled apart instead of cubes. The cubes may have dried the boar out a bit. I opted for the mixed dal which was very flavorful and added a lot to the dish. The root vegetable side was also pretty good, but the rice was quite bland. My wife got the lamb shank. She has ordered this at other places and loved it. She regrets not sending it back, but lamb is expensive and The Cheel is trying to find success. It was incredibly tough and she had the same problem I did with the boar with a bitter taste to it. Lamb shank usually pulls apart and she had to cut this like a steak. Very disappointing. Our meal before tip was $120. In my opinion, the meal was over-priced for the quality of food we ate. I saw the owner respond to a negative review below and found it quite unprofessional. I hope that doesn’t happen here, but felt it was important to share my experience in an honest way.

The Cheel is back and better than ever! I was happy to see that the menu hasn't changed much since before the fire. The endive boats and lamb shank were to die for, as were the craft cocktails. Impeccable service.

Every choice was delish especially the chickpea tofu, and the risotto! Planning our next visit.

First, the front desk lost our reservation and we waited atleast 30 minutes just to be seated. I gave 3 stars for the food because we had the brussel sprout appetizer and it was so yummy! My husband had the chicken thighs and he really liked it. My mother in law and I both had the salmon dish, and while she loved hers, my entire dish (salmon, asparagus, and rice) tasted EXTREMELY salty. I barely could eat it. Normally in that situation I would have asked for a new dish, but our server was so sweet and the restaurant was packed, so in the moment it wasn't worth it. I still want to go back, as maybe the kitchen is still working out the kinks of having just reopened. But I would not order the salmon again.

The new building was beautiful. And the food is still amazing!! Something I never thought I would try but my mind was blown away by the flavor
