Best restaurant in Nashville
I’m not one to write reviews. However, I cannot go without writing one. My husband and I ate dinner here last night. If I could sum up my whole review in one word it would be…. Unreal. From the moment you walk in the experience begins, you are transported to the coziest room with counter seats all around the kitchen, from the staff, to the ambiance, to the bathoom/decor, and most importantly the food. Five stars all around. We are BIG food snobs, being that we have lived in some of the best food cities in the nation. The cat bird seat is one of if not the best meal I’ve ever had. The staff is welcoming but professional, the chefs were knowledgeable and obviously very good at what they do, and the beverage lady was spot on with all the wine pairings. Thank you all so much for an incredible experience/meal. I never wanted to leave, We will be back.
It's probably the best tasting menu in Nashville. I say that and I mean that precisely. The dishes are extremely well crafted and show a level of mastery that would be expected of a Michelin-starred establishment. The food and service has come tremendously since I first dined there some 8 years ago and it thrives under it's new head chef. It's tremendous as a Nashville restaurant and prices that hit just a little below Michelin-menu prices depending on when you dine. And so, as far as a 5-star google reviews go that should be sufficient. To nitpick, as a 5-star google review but as a Michelin-starred caliber there are some insufficiencies: *Atmosphere- Music is often too loud and produces night club vibes. Dishes and prep work occurs in front of you, which is fantastic. Ventilation is lackluster though despite a very large hood and the indoor charcoal grilling leaves you wondering what your carbon monoxide levels might be. *Menu- Dishes unofficially take on a Japanese and Southeast Asian/Indian inspiration, which is fine, though may be in search of a stronger narrative as to why, as that wasn't clear in the presentation or atmosphere. However, the recent prixe fixe course displayed a fixation on seafood dishes that felt overly narrow and redundant especially as far as pacing goes. Consecutive dishes in a past visit were- ebi, blue lobster, prawn, crab and scallop- a rather narrow offering. While each dish was very well executed I couldn't help but feel like this was an overly focused coursing that limited the opportunity for the chef to showcase his talent across a greater range. I'd have appreciated seeing a greater foray into things like pork, poultry, lamb, maybe goat considering Indian theme, perhaps some waterfowl or a game bird, even within seafood something more texturally dissimilar like squid or unagi. I wonder if the limited ventilation may have limited meats that would smoke significantly when seared. In any event I look forward to a continued evolution and refinement.
Delicious. Flawless. Staff was attentive and everything was perfection. Attention to detail is in every bite. A must visit.
My wife and I had dinner at the catbird's seat on Friday evening. It was one of the most wonderful and memorable dining experiences of my life.
Literally left wanting for nothing. Dietary restrictions: Accommodates allergies seamlessly.
Nashville’s best tasting menu!!!
Would give it a 6th star if they let me. Chef Baxter and his team put out some beautiful dishes, the environment is so fun, drinks were amazing. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation at Catbird.
If you're into food or cooking and like to try new things this is a must do. It's really like dinner and a show because you get an intimate look at all the prep, cooking and assembly as the seating area surrounds the kitchen. We went for the early seating. Very small portions but we knew this going in. But you're also getting like 12 courses. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Nashville.
Food was really good but just not enough of it. We spent $600 for just the two of us and left still hungry.
