Go for: A great Boston Harbor atmosphere and outdoor dining. Best enjoyed in the warmer months. Avoid if: You don't want to pay one and half times the price of a normal order of seafood and fries in an otherwise rustic setting. Something surprising: It has become a Boston staple. They'll celebrate their 30-year anniversary in 2024. Reservation needed? They don't take them. Be prepared: there's almost always a long line in the summertime, especially for groups of 3+. Overall Experience: 3/5. Definitely a once-per-year maximum/bring visitors from out-of-town type of place. It's fun in the summertime. The meals come out quickly once the order is taken, but it might take 15 minutes for someone to come by to take your order (at least) after they drop off your drinks. The food was okay but not astounding, and the price is inflated due to the location and the audience. Value for Price: 3 Sanitation: 2 Food Quality: 3 Menu Precision: 4 Service Quality: 2 Timing: 4 Decor: 3 Access: 3 — 5 among the best 4 strong 3 not too bad 2 mediocre 1 never again

I used to love the Barking Crab when I was a kid. I remember the place when the entire Seaport area was not even developed yet and that's the last time I remember this place still having some charm. Nowadays it's just a tourist trap with overpriced meals and drinks and terrible service. The wait staff are clearly overworked and they're really indifferent anyways since they know they'll get a good tip with how overpriced their items are. They have a nice view, but that's about it. Their food was just average compared to other lesser well-known seafood restaurants. They lost their charm years ago.

Of course it has rats, it’s on the waterfront! Welcome to historic Boston. It’s somewhat touristy. But the atmosphere is what makes it. If the temperature is below freezing they won’t be open because the pipes freeze out over the water. But if you want a cozy great lobster dinner in the winter time, the dining room can’t be beat. Be prepared to eat fast. And his place gets busy and doesn’t cater to folks who are looking for quiet and slow. But you’re gonna wait for a table. It’s tempting to go elsewhere while you’re waiting in that line, but resist the urge. You want the Barking Crab! Get the peel and eat shrimp as an appetizer as soon as you sit down and the memory of the line will fade away. Enjoy! (Germ freak’s tip, exiting the restroom in an aseptic manner is challenging because of the lack of paper towels. Bring a napkin if you don’t like air hand-dryers)

Was Having a miserable day due to one of the local seaport hotels. I can't imagine a more fun place. Was a great atmosphere the food was wonderful and I left the city of Boston much less bitter than I was at lunch.
